Q9. Fun Question. Trees can have different scents. Any that stand out? #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A9. Well, it reminds me of advice I got about tree skiing: "Look at the space between the trees and not the trees. If you look at the trees, you'll ski into them." And just like that I was cured of any desire to ski between trees. #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A9) I worked at a Christmas tree farm as a kid and still love the smell of various pines. Douglas fir is my favorite. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A9 #ParkChat The western red cedar is one of my favourites. I’ll peel off some bark just to enjoy it more. My husband says he enjoys magnolia. The wood is fragrant too!

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A9) Pine more than other, I grew up watching the TV commercials reinforcing the idea that the scent of pine means fresh. #ParkChat

A9 I remember our first trip to the #BlackHills. Tent camped for a full week. There was nothing like sitting under the ponderosa pines in Custer. #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute #parkchat A9 as mentioned by others before, the poderosas are so strong, especially in summer heat! But I distinctly remember the smell of the sassafras trees growing up, when you would snap off a small branch and just hold it under your nose. Mmmmm.

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A9: OMG yes. The smell of the pine in the cold/wet weather, the smell of the laurel when it starts to get warm. Not only the smell of different trees, but different seasons, different weather, even different times of day. #ParkChat

A9 CEDAR! There is no better smell than cedar. Of course it only gets that amazing smell when it has been cut down and I'm cutting it up to build something. But still...cedarrrrr. #ParkChat

A9. There's nothing like the strong scent of a sappy pine against the crisp scent of the fesh water up in Voyageurs National Park. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A9 When driving from the Willamette Valley to Central Oregon you get hit with the strong scent of juniper. To me this means I'm home. Some of my best years were spent there. #ParkChat
