replying to @Stars252525 @Stars252525 @59NationalParks A4) #Parkchat A very rare Torreya tree is here in Florida, at the appropriately named, Torreya State Park! Local legend is that it's what Noah used to build the ark. https://t.co/CmIx4Es21o

replying to @coasthikergirl @coasthikergirl @Wild_Tribute Having grown up nearby (born after the eruption), it's a forest that's grown with me - I remember when it was nothing but barren ash with a few shrubby bushes barely clinging to existence! #Parkchat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks And yet less than 5% of the old-growth forest in the Pacific Northwest is still standing. It's impossible to imagine what it was once like here. #ParkChat

replying to @naturetechfam @naturetechfam @Wild_Tribute So we need more tree huggers you’re saying? #Parkchat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @Wild_Tribute A4. Shawnee National Forest in southernmost Illinois. Land was purchased after old farms eroded and played out. The current forest has largely regrown from that. Also contains the northern limits of cypress/tupelo swamps. #parkchat

A6: Hiking up 1000 feet only to wander back into the Hidden Canyon at Zion through groves of trees that felt like they didn't belong was pretty special to me. #ParkChat https://t.co/ouxSM9EE0d
replying to @ecdanielson @ecdanielson @GreatBasinNPS @RedwoodNPS @allidanielson Quote of the night. #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A4. I don't know the answer. I'm surrounded by forest, but most of it seems to be managed, not protected. The most famous around here might be the old growth in the Opal Creek Wilderness that was saved from logging. #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @CongareeNPS A6: RMNP so far has given bang for the buck when it comes to trees. Pines and Aspens forever #ParkChat
replying to @Stars252525 @Stars252525 @mamanobles @Wild_Tribute #Parkchat It's awful when it gets in your hair!
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @BarnetteJason A4 Ocala National Forest near Ocala, FL. It’s the oldest national forest east of the Mississippi! #ParkChat
A6 Agree with @59NationalParks about Congaree, because unlike at other parks, there isn't anything else there :-) #parkchat
replying to @wander_filled @wander_filled Man that’s deep. Going to take awhile to digest this tweet. #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @CongareeNPS A6 Many of them, but the sense of total awe and amazement I had in @SequoiaKingsNPS doesn't happen often. #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks Big Cypress. It’s sacred to me because it’s pure wilderness. It’s the Everglades at her best. #FindYourPark #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @CongareeNPS A6 - we were also amazed at the beauty & longevity of the bristlecone pines @GreatBasinNPS. Even more rewarding because of the effort to get up the trail to see them. #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @CongareeNPS A6. Yep, Congaree is definitely on that list for me too. Got there in early May last year. Just a wonderful walk on that boardwalk, seeing massive trees unlike anything I recall ever seeing. #parkchat
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A5 The healing power of forests and nature in general is something I have certainly experienced, at least in terms of stress and mental health. There's nothing better to rejuvenate the soul than a walk in the woods. #parkchat
A6. You expect to be wowed by the Sequoias and Redwoods, but being in the presence of Bristle Cones is truly remarkable. Seeking wisdom, head to Great Basin NP and the lonely stretches of Utah’s West Desert. #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @CongareeNPS A6 #ParkChat Definitely @RedwoodNPS. I drove through on a road trip a few years back and got to spend a night in Jedediah Smith SP. I went back the next year with my husband to explore more of the complex.
replying to @DryTortugasFilm @DryTortugasFilm @mamanobles @Wild_Tribute I have very short hair so that's never happened to me! Lol #ParkChat
A6 Aside from the obvious, I'm going with @OlympicNP - you get to see every stage of a tree's life, and the size of some of those suckers really floored me #parkchat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @CongareeNPS #parkchat A6 back 20 years and 3 months ago, 8 months before my brother died, he, his wife, and I went to @GrandCanyonNPS. This was the biggest tree I had ever seen, even bigger than any in the U. P. of MI. A very special tree and trip indeed.
replying to @WildWithinHer @WildWithinHer I know. I think about that concept frequently. And with lots of features such as coastline. #ParkChat
replying to @RCGibby73 @RCGibby73 @59NationalParks @CongareeNPS But so much Beetle Kill :( #ParkChat
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A5: Idk, I can only speak for what works for me. I'm struggling a bit at the moment and, darn it, getting outside to clear my head, to meditate, if you will, makes a big difference. Just my 2c. #ParkChat
A6. No way can I come up with one park for this. @MountRainierNPS, @OlympicNP, @RedwoodNPS, and @NCascadesNPS immediately come to mind. Hiking among 1000-year-old cedars deep in the North Cascades was unforgettable. #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @CongareeNPS A6) Most recently it was the Rainforest in Blue Mountains National Park in Australia which was a welcome treat after not seeing hardly any trees during my train ride across the continent. #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @Wild_Tribute A4. Long Island Pine Barrens. It’s the only area of wild Long Island left. #parkchat
Q7. Fire, Pine Beetle, and other natural forces can create an eye sore (albeit natural for the general cycle of healthy forests) that’s hard to stomach. Any places in particular come to mind where you wish restoration to their full glory in your lifetime? #ParkChat
replying to @tthrash @tthrash @59NationalParks @GreatBasinNPS Trees @RedwoodNPS because they are unbelievably big! I just can’t get my head (or hands) around it. #parkchat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @Wild_Tribute @CongareeNPS Muir Woods. I first “got” what a western NPS unit was like out there. #FindYourPark #ParkChat
A6 The trees of @CongareeNPS surprised me when I learned they are some of the oldest in the country. I love walking the Boardwalk Trail admiring those massive trees. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute @59NationalParks @CongareeNPS Yeah. That is a sad sight. And it makes it a tinder box too. #ParkChat
A6)I really love this narrow boardwalk @AcadiaNPS. the tree experience was beautiful. It was a quick walk around Jordan pond. #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @naturetechfam @Wild_Tribute We will be doing a giant tree hug at the #parkchat meetup, right?
replying to @e_terren @59NationalParks @Wild_Tribute This very hilly, unglaciated region contains oak/hickory forest and a species of native pine. Non-native pines were also planted, but are no longer being promoted. #parkchat
