Deserts
ParkChat
Q1 #ParkChat I know people that won’t visit a Desert Park for fear of rattlesnakes. Is there a desert creature that causes you concern? Why do they make you nervous?
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1: Only other humans. I fear having to interact on a superficial level. HAHAHA. I kid, I kid. I wouldn't want to step on a scorpion. #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1 I'm not fond of scorpions, but rattlesnakes are my fear. #ParkChat

@59NationalParks A1: Scorpions. They sting and I have a fear of one crawling into my shoe before I put it on in the morning.

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1: Oh most definitely the rattlesnake. I’ll be on high alert but wouldn’t keep me from exploring #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1 #ParkChat Ugh. Scorpions. I don’t like the idea of having to shake out my boots in the morning.
A1. I'd to see a rattlesnake, at a safe distance! I'll also go with scorpions. They seem small enough to get into a hiking shoe or sleeping bag. #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1. Spiders, and not just in deserts. Heard that saying that you're never more than 3 ft. from a spider? It's true. #parkchat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1 Both scorpions and rattlesnakes give me the creeps. I’ll take a grizzly bear instead. #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1) Car break downs, flat tires, etc, our biggest fear. Lots of distance out there in the desert. #parkchat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1) Given what has happened to both Joshua Tree & Death Valley National Parks recently, I'm most nervous about the irresponsible visitors to the Desert Parks more than the local inhabitants. #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1. These, everywhere. Because 🐍! #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks #parkchat A1 Chupacabra? Lol probably scorpions. But rattlesnakes are chilling too.
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1. Honestly its just the people that make me nervous. #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1 #ParkChat I watched an ep of Planet Earth (I think it was) recently where they showed mountain lions in the desert. I never really picture them in that landscape, so my lack of awareness concerned me. But they can hide in canyons and LEAP so far 😬
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1: I grew up around rattle snakes in eastern Oregon so they don't bother me, especially if you respect the signage in desert parks. #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @Wild_Tribute A1: scorpions and rattlesnakes #parkchat
replying to @59NationalParks
@59NationalParks A1: Scorpions! They are crazy. #parkchat
& had a way too close Rattler run in in Kings Canyon—scary!!
But still, I love those desert parks.
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1 #parkchat there is no more misunderstood animal than the rattlesnake. Basically, if you’re not a drunk male under 30, your chances of getting bit are ridiculously low.
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1 my shadow sometimes frightens me, and the shadows seem longer in the desert, so. the thought of scorpions I guess too. #parkchat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1. Chiming in late! Sorry. I hate scorpions because the little bastards have crawled into my boots. #ParkChat
