Q7 #ParkChat Many of the animals we see in deserts are the same as we see in forests-deer, rabbits and even bears. Yet deserts have unique fauna too. What are some of the unique desert animals you’d like to see or have seen? Yes. We want photos.

A7. We loved seeing kit foxes and jackrabbits in @DeathValleyNPS. And I always hope to run into snakes in the desert, like this bull snake in El Malpais NM. No zoom! #ParkChat

A7. Prickly Pear and Cliffrose...and what would the desert be without Juniper #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A7 I enjoy the javalinas, tortoises, lizards, etc. I desperately want to see a gila monster. #ParkChat

A7 I don't have a picture, and I wish I knew the name of the species, but in Colorado NM I saw an insect that makes little sand avalanches, I guess to trap their prey - it was far out #parkchat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A7 #Parkchat Saw a few jack-rabbits in the SoCal desert but didn’t manage to snap a photo. I’d love to see a kit fox. And of course a jackalope.

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A7. I remember seeing a horned lizard the first time. Jackrabbits are fun, too. And then the desert birds: roadrunners, Gambel's quail, phainopepla, acorn woodpeckers. #parkchat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @Wild_Tribute A7 #ParkChat Do the burros in @DeathValleyNPS count? You see burros all over the world, but they're unique to DV in that they're invasive and non-native, they're not even supposed to be there but they're thriving beyond control

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @Wild_Tribute A7: I’m making a list of all the animals I’ve never heard of listed in these answers. I have seen javalinas though. I don’t have pictures. #parkchat
