Ranger Life
ParkChat
Today we met our good friend Douglas Scott AKA @Exotichikes for lunch in Bozeman, #Montana. We know Doug from about three years ago when we hiked together at @OlympicNP He is truly a delightful guy. Plus, of course, he’s guest hosting #ParkChat next week! #tweetup
Bink checking-in to the #parkchat lodge while actively & medicinally working on lowering my blood cholesterol levels. 😎
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @aubreylenae16 @Wild_Tribute Present! (Closest I could get to a ranger) #ParkChat
Oops. I'm late. But I'm here! I KNOW you missed me these past...three minutes. #ParkChat
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute @aubreylenae16 @YellowstoneNPS A little. This is from the courtyard in our motel at West Yellowstone. #ParkChat
replying to @RCGibby73 @RCGibby73 @59NationalParks @aubreylenae16 @Wild_Tribute Hi #ParkChat people
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1 Honestly, I never thought about being a #NationalPark Ranger. But I always kinda thought they were all big, burly, and bearded. Kinda like this...#ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @aubreylenae16 @Wild_Tribute Greetings #ParkChat from #Carmel where I just returned from the #MissionRanch after visiting with a few old & new acquaintances.
A1) Ranger Smith and Ranger Rick were two favorites from childhood, but I guess they are not real rangers...:( Though they left a good impression, even being fictional characters. #ParkChat
replying to @publiclandlvr In fact, when I first met Mr PLL I thought he must remind visitors to put litter in trash cans and not feed the squirrels. And then I saw his gas mask! #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A1) It wasn't a Park Ranger but a Forest Ranger that was one of the occupations along with a fireman & train engineer that I wanted to be when I was a child. #ParkChat
replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A2) We'd probably be the interpretation ranger, we love to learn and tell stories! #ParkChat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @Wild_Tribute I wanted to be an ornithologist because I loved birds of prey and owls. Still do. In thinking about that, I always imagined I’d work in the Everglades. #ParkChat #FindYourPark
A2 I would LOVE to be one of the #nationalpark rangers that does the rifle and canon demonstrations. I think it would be awesome to learn how these weapons worked and be able to actually fire one! #ParkChat
replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 #parkchat A3 @YellowstoneNPS. #lifegoals the plan is to "retire" there somehow, someday. 😊
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute I came across a maintenance crew working at @VicksburgNPS. They were using a flame thrower to repair the protective wax on bronze statues and plaques. THAT looked awesome! #ParkChat
replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 If we're all really good tonight will you share it with us? #parkchat
replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 @Wild_Tribute Interpretive and educational. I’m already a teacher, I’d love to be one in the parks. #FindYourPark #ParkChat
replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 @Wild_Tribute I’m probably most suited for Everglades as it’s my home park. But anything dealing with the American revolution would be amazing- I wrote my MA thesis in antislavery during the Age of Enlightenment and revolution. #FindYourPark #ParkChat
