Ranger Life
ParkChat
Q1 #ParkChat Think back to your childhood. Did you think you might like to be a Park Ranger? What was your impression of what Park Rangers did? Did meet any Park Rangers as a child? Tell us about them.
Q2 #ParkChat Park rangers do a variety of things to keep parks, refuges, monuments, etc. operating! Maintenance, law enforcement, interpretation, natural resource management, education, administration, and more! What type of ranger do you think you'd like to be and why?
Q3 #ParkChat Park rangers work in ALL public lands, everything from national parks, to wildlife refuges, to national monuments! If you could choose any site to live and work at, which one would it be? And what about this place inspires you to care so deeply about it?
Q4 #ParkChat The biggest benefit in many people's opinion is that us park rangers get to have public lands quite literally as our backyards, as most of us live where we work. What would you be the most excited about if you had this opportunity?
Q5 #ParkChat Small things you take for granted, like internet, cell phone signal and running water, are far and few between in a lot of parks. How would you handle these problems? Would you be excited to not have the pressures of modern society? Would you miss it?
Q6 #ParkChat Let's say you decided to be an interpretive ranger and you work at public lands where you get to give a program about ANY topic that you want, of course relating to the place. What would you do a campfire program about?
Q7 #ParkChat One of my favorite parts of being a park ranger is inspiring people to take action on caring for their public lands. What difficult environmental issue do you think you'd spend a lot of time focusing on if you were a park ranger?
Q8 #ParkChat Park rangers love their jobs & we love helping people have an amazing experience while visiting public lands. Have you ever had an experience with a park ranger that inspired you to change how you live your day to day life? If so, tell me about it!
Q9 #ParkChat The only reason that park rangers have the ability to share our love for public lands is because of you, the wonderful people that care about these places. What can you do, even if you're not a park ranger, to help protect public lands from your home?
Q10. A Park Ranger’s role description can often be Option D, “all of the above”. What do you perceive is the the most challenging part of the job? Why? #ParkChat
Q11. If only a Park Ranger’s stories could talk. Is there a story about a Park Ranger or perhaps a story that a Park Ranger conveyed to you that has and always will stick with you? #ParkChat
