Q10. A Park Ranger’s role description can often be Option D, “all of the above”. What do you perceive is the the most challenging part of the job? Why? #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10) Dealing with angry visitors. Angry people are the worst. #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10: If you ask Mr PLL it's doing a death notification on a child. It's truly the most awful part to look a parent in the eyes and tell them their son/daughter is gone. #ParkChat
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute a10 - gotta be doing "everything" on a shoestring budget. Kudos to the current admisinstration for adding @IndianaDunesNPS - also time to address the maintenance backlog in our NPS #parkchat

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr @Wild_Tribute A10 This is a better answer than anything I could come up with #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10 I would say dealing with unreasonable tourists. I've seen rangers in action and tip my hat to them. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute #parkchat A10 every job has its down side, no matter how fulfilling. Could be bureaucracy, such as #shutdown uncertainties. Having a kid w special needs, having medical is a huge deal and losing that would be very scary. 😥

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10. #Parkchat People, because they eat tide pods, no really. because so many are just are so out of touch with nature these days.

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10) Gotta be hard to deal with the idiots and the “hold my beer” crowd #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10. Visitors. It hugely varies by time of year. Even the visitors we have in June are much different than the ones we get it August. Winter visitors are a whole different world than summer visitors #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10) The salary, the lack of advancement in the park that you're currently working in and believe it or not, dating & the thought of starting a family since like the military, NPS Rangers move around a lot to advance their careers. #ParkChat

A10 I've spoken with many #nationalpark Rangers who say the MOST challenging part of their job is getting everything done with the limited time they have. The backlog for repairs and upgrades is ever-growing. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10 Confrontation is something I'm not good at. I get angry though when I see people purposely destroy something valuable. #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10: The budget, or lack thereof. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10 Watching the increase in SAR incidents in so many parks has got to be frustrating…some coming from an increase in visitors, but some coming from unprepared, unknowledgeable, and inept visitors. #parkchat
