Q6 #ParkChat Let's say you decided to be an interpretive ranger and you work at public lands where you get to give a program about ANY topic that you want, of course relating to the place. What would you do a campfire program about?

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A6: I work remotely, so having access to wifi at least some of the time is a reality for us. We also have a school aged son now, so proximity to public education is a factor in where we decide to go. Some duty stations don't have either. #ParkChat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A6: it would be a shock but one I might get used to quick and might even change how I use tech when in “civilization” #ParkChat

A6. Anything related to the crazy, interesting, formidable first visitors to the Park that helped make the Park the place it is today. #ParkChat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A6: I’d love to learn about and discuss homesteaders in the Rockies. Visiting the Halzworth Site at @RockyNPS was an eye opener #ParkChat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A6 Any place. history. Famous people, expeditions, battles, anything of that type. #ParkChat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A6) The one campfire chat I was able to experience was at Yosemite about predators, and I loved it. I'd love to talk about wolves around the fire at Isle Royale. #ParkChat

A6 Either 1) 13.8 billion yrs of cosmic history in 30 minutes, 2) a silent ranger talk w/ 30 minutes of nothing but meditation, or 3) how to tell whether a mushroom is safe, poisonous, or...magic! #parkchat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A6. That’s actually a really hard question! One thing I love is moving to a new park and learning a whole new topic. It’s a fun challenge to craft a new program. I’ve done trains, turtles, planes, and many more! #ParkChat

A6) We'd love to tell the tale of Jean Lafitte, the pirate, complete with costumes and a set for the campfire program! We think it's going to be quite the production. @JeanLafitteNPS #parkchat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A6 Running water. That would be most difficult adjustment for me. #parkchat

A6 My topic would be on Leave No Trace and Park etiquette. We all need to be reminded and refreshed on this topic from time to time. #ParkChat
replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 a6 - Am I allowed to campfire chat about stories from this book? #ParkChat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A6) I'd probably mix it depending upon the the night sky, I'd talk about the Moon when its full, the stars when there's no Moon and the animals in between. #ParkChat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A6. I really enjoy wildlife and the importance of conservation/preservation #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @aubreylenae16 A6. I'm sorry, but I'm stealing @59NationalParks' answer! 😊 I would definitely be talking #leavenotrace and fire safety! #ParkChat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A6) #Parkchat Reef protection and how EVERY single person CAN make a difference, the effects people can have positively and negatively on the Ocean and why we must make conscious choices every day in order to make this difference and/or the History of the Dry Tortugas.

replying to @aubreylenae16
@aubreylenae16 A6. First, climate change. "If you love this park, help save its future."
Second, I'd play the character of an early pioneer to the area, telling stories from the past, what I saw and did. #parkchat

A6 Or, a talk on how to sing opera as part of bear safety. With enough visitors in the group, we could do the Anvil Chorus! #parkchat

replying to @aubreylenae16
@aubreylenae16 A6. Leave No Trace. Winter Outdoor preparation. And, local history.

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A6: The impact of geology, weather, and chemistry on a given location. #ParkChat
