Q9 #ParkChat The only reason that park rangers have the ability to share our love for public lands is because of you, the wonderful people that care about these places. What can you do, even if you're not a park ranger, to help protect public lands from your home?

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A9. Treat it just as you would your personal home. Protect it, keep it clean, visit often, bring donuts #ParkChat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A9) How about to donate and volunteer for NGO's that engage with the parks and environment like NPCA, NRDC, The Sierra Club, The Nature Conservancy, etc #ParkChat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A9 Lobby for protected lands (and keeping what we have), better budgets, more rangers, etc. Write those letters and send those emails. #ParkChat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 #parkchat A9 live the example you want to see in others. Promote #LNT and safe wildlife interactions. Volunteer!

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A9) #Parkchat Vote for leadership who will do what's right when it comes to making decisions about #Publiclands !

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A9: We're VIPs so we are intentionally about cleaning our local trails and beaches. In 2018 we picked up more than 10K pieces of litter. We encourage everyone to follow @WoodsyAnimation's motto and #lendahand! #ParkChat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A9 Also spend $ with businesses that donate a percentage of their profits to support public lands #ParkChat

A9 Help bring an end to war. We could protect all our lands for a dozen generations with the money we spend on the military machine that only spreads anger and hate #parkchat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A9) People can become an NPS Volunteer like me, join a local and/or national organization that focuses on protecting public lands and if that's not possible then consider making a donation to the plexiglas box in the next park you visit. #ParkChat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A9: We can keep communicating the mission of the Parks and letting our proper use show the appreciation Rangers deserve #ParkChat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A9 From home, one of the best ways to lessen my impact on a park is to plan ahead…bringing refillable water bottles with me instead of buying plastics that go into recycling or trash that the NPS must handle. #parkchat

@aubreylenae16 A9) Certainly donating is an obvious option. Continuing to lobby for them online, in our day-to-day interactions. Honestly just sharing our experiences at parks and posting photos* may have more of an impact than any of us realize! #ParkChat
*UGH. My phone froze or I'd add one.

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A9. Last spring I took the Indiana Master Naturalist classes and I think better education on the impact, both positive and negative, we have on our environment is vital. #parkchat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A9: I try to adhere to the "Take only pictures, leave only footprints" rule. #ParkChat

@aubreylenae16 A9. Vote like you mean it. Tell your legislators public lands are important. Then tell them the fine employees who care for these lands are important, too.
Act locally. I got involved in activism several years ago to change management on some state lands. It worked! #parkchat

replying to @aubreylenae16
@aubreylenae16 A9. I bug State politicians. I use social media as a megaphone for environmental issues important to me. And, sometimes I make Youtube videos. 🤣
