Q8 #ParkChat Park rangers love their jobs & we love helping people have an amazing experience while visiting public lands. Have you ever had an experience with a park ranger that inspired you to change how you live your day to day life? If so, tell me about it!

A7 Promoting non-violence, especially if I worked at a battlefield, but the message is relevant everywhere. #LeaveNoTrace is a form of non-violence too #parkchat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A7) Is climate change a difficult environmental issue? Shouldn’t be but maybe it is - I’d also love to address the impact of cattle ranching (sure to get some opposition but - well - my opinion is correct! 🤣 #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax @aubreylenae16 I've always wondered how to shrink my foot #parkchat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A7. I think we all have our things that drive us nuts regarding park visitors (encroaching wildlife, vandalism, littering, etc). Combating those would certainly be a focus #parkchat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A8. Absolutely, I’ve learned many small actions I can take to help preserve our environment and our history #ParkChat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 #parkchat A7 LNT and climate change. Both are wreaking havoc on our parks.

replying to @louisbink @louisbink Who said anything about primetime? I was thinking of your handheld GPS device for backcountry hiking, radios for emergency use, and CPAP machine since everybody seems to use one these days. #ParkChat #ohhh

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A7 Climate change is big but I think I'd talk about litter. We can see litter nearly everywhere. It kills birds, fish & other animals. #parkchat

replying to @unconpeace @unconpeace @aubreylenae16 Haha. Not sure either how to shrink a foot, but metaphorical shrinking works. #ParkChat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A7. Climate change. I could probably tie the topics of invasive species and out of control development into that. #parkchat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A8: I can’t think of just one, as they have taught us a lot & reinforced what we already know. I think that constant connection with my kids helps them know that it isn’t just my thoughts - others share them too. #parkchat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A8 Great question. I can't say I have, other than to make me want to visit more park sites. But, different rangers have sparked interest in a wide variety of subjects which in turn lead to more reading about the subject. #ParkChat

replying to @RoadTripsCoffee @RoadTripsCoffee @louisbink I don't carry a generator and I spend weeks in the backcountry using 300 watts of solar and about 80 useable amount hours of wet battery. I don't watch prime time, but I do have power! 😁 #ParkChat
replying to @RoadTripsCoffee @RoadTripsCoffee Solar powered C-pap? Genious...Now show me a solar powered pacemaker and we can both retire very wealthy men...#ParkChat

replying to @EPCOTExplorer @EPCOTExplorer @59NationalParks @Wild_Tribute I love owls! #parkchat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A8) Years ago I went on a National Trails Day hike at John Muir NHS, it was Ranger Ben's story about how he started out as a Volunteer and then became a Ranger that sparked the idea in my head. #ParkChat

A8. It’s all about perspective. Rangers are paid in sunrises and sunsets yet many things about their jobs simply aren’t rosy. The attitude and smiles they bring to their work everyday is best in class and admirable #ParkChat

A8 Not a ranger, but a volunteer, gave a talk @VoyageursNPS about the ecological farming of the Indians, kinda like ancient #Permaculture. I'm inspired to grow my own food in a sustainable way, even though I suck at gardening now #parkchat

replying to @hksbks @hksbks @aubreylenae16 A good topic! So many of the public still don't understand things like fire or the functions of predators. #parkchat

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 UGH. I hate this question. For permanent, let’s start with the fact that I’d probably prefer somewhere west. I also tend to like the lesser visited gems. So...Alaska (Lake Clark?) or one like North Cascades? SW is great too, just prefer snow to heat. #ParkChat

Q9 #ParkChat The only reason that park rangers have the ability to share our love for public lands is because of you, the wonderful people that care about these places. What can you do, even if you're not a park ranger, to help protect public lands from your home?

replying to @aubreylenae16 @aubreylenae16 A5: I don't miss being off the grid, at least for a little while. I really need the quiet time. #ParkChat

replying to @MattsRoadTrip @MattsRoadTrip @louisbink And this is exactly what I'm talking about. I will NEVER understand the new RVs with a TV built into the outside. Doesn't take much, but solar power is better for the environment than a generator. And nicer on the neighbors, too. #ParkChat

replying to @louisbink @louisbink I feel like maybe, just maybe you're trying to give me a hard time so I'm only gonna say this: solar panels charge a battery, then C-pap runs on battery. It's magic! #ParkChat
