replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @ArchesNPS A11. I sought out the safety of a cabin for the #parkchat meetup, thereby avoiding the danger of the camping parkchatter contingent. ;)

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks A11. Sometimes hikes take longer than people expect, and they're out after dark without a light source. It's always good to have that extra light source (not your cell phone) with you, even if you're not hiking at night. #ParkChat

A10: what I have found, through exp'ing at Night, is that, OMG...the sheer volume of Human-generated sound as well as Light pollution.
Animals really don't get any break from that Day or Night.
They need Quiet & Dark to be able to rely on their Senses properly.

Give it up for @ArchesNPS for joining #ParkChat tonight and for their excellent job of guest hosting. Super fantastic job. Everyone tonight appreciates your participation and for all you do for the Parks. @Wild_Tribute

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @ArchesNPS #parkchat A11 Don't be in a hurry. Pack the night vision camera. Bring pillows so the kids can crash out in the back. Stop often to listen. And look. 😍

replying to @ArchesNPS @ArchesNPS @59NationalParks Good tip! Racing against daylight on a hike is never fun. A light source at least relieves some of that pressure. #Parkchat

replying to @ArchesNPS @ArchesNPS @publiclandlvr On the day my daughter was born, a coyote ran through my parents' backyard 3,000 miles away. In 30 years in that house, they had never seen one before, and have never seen one since. I've always thought it's my kid's spirit animal, though I love them too. #ParkChat

HUGE thank you to @ArchesNPS and our trusty sidekick @59NationalParks. Tonight was fantastic. Eager for warmer nights to get back in the tent and spend time with the stars. Take care all! #parkchat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @ArchesNPS A11 #parkchat I really try to avoid driving at night. Driven many times through the Northwoods of Wisconsin at night white knuckling it while seeing all the glowing eyes of deer on the side of the road.

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute @ArchesNPS @59NationalParks Absolutely, thanks to all of you for tonight's #ParkChat, I'll see you again next week.

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @ArchesNPS A11: we have so many deer where we live so we are used to being very careful. When camping, we stay close to the tent and then inside for the night. We make sure everything is cleaned up before we turn in to avoid furry friends getting too close. #parkchat

A12 I would like to announce that I am setting a goal of being able to see in total darkness. Given an infinite amount of time, I am confident I can do it #parkchat

A10 Defiantly good for the soul and for all the nocturnal animals! Some town in Idaho passed a law about the night sky and making sure lights are turned off! #parkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks No, but I'm actually on Twitter for the tail end of #parkchat today. Hi old friends! Have a great night everyone!

replying to @ArchesNPS @ArchesNPS @CanyonlandsNPS In an urban environment, it would have to be Flagstaff, AZ, an International Dark Sky City. Outside of cities, there are many great parks - @AcadiaNPS, @JoshuaTreeNPS, just about all the Utah parks, Grand Canyon, the Appalachian Trail, the Black Hills, the Northwest. #ParkChat
