replying to @ArchesNPS @ArchesNPS A2: The backcountry in RMNP last summer was pretty dark but the first time I saw the Milky Way was at Caprick Canyons State Park here in Texas #ParkChat

A2 Being an East Coaster means it's really difficult to find dark skies, even in the national parks. The darkest place I've ever been was the old Sheldon Church ruins in @Visit_Beaufort

Without my strobes it was pitch black. #ParkChat

replying to @ArchesNPS @ArchesNPS A2) Within the National Park Service it would be in the low lands of Joshua Tree National Park. Outside of the NPS it was along the Pacific Coast Highway in Big Sur where there wasn't any light sources for miles. #ParkChat

replying to @ArchesNPS @ArchesNPS A2. I'm from a mining community, and we clearly pride ourselves on this 😁 there is a place that gives access to the public to safely go down a mine shaft. That's a dark space! Otherwise, the are a few very dark parks nearby that offer greater stargazing.#ParkChat

Hearing every little sound. Night vision kicking in. And Smell, too, weird as that seems.
I can smell Deer, skunk, marshy areas, fresh water, and OMG the Flowers & Trees...amazing!
