replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute @ArchesNPS @YellowstoneNPS @HarpersFerryNPS Indeed. Ranger programs with costumed interpreters by the light of lanterns and campfires on a cool fall night really added to the experience. #ParkChat

replying to @ArchesNPS @ArchesNPS A6) I'll usually see a variety of geometric shapes in the night sky but for the life of me I have no idea how they came up with the Signs of the Zodiac. π #ParkChat

replying to @indygifted @indygifted @CanyonlandsNPS Our next star party is Saturday, April 27th. It's going to be hosted by @CanyonlandsNPS at 8:30pm. #ParkChat

A6. The appearance of Orion above the horizon signals the coming of winter for me. Now, the Great Bear is ascendant. I saw an archer in the stars yesterday morning when I was out for my 5am walk. #ParkChat

replying to @ArchesNPS @ArchesNPS @YellowstoneNPS A5) Sadly, I'm usually passing through and visiting parks only during the day, but when I was able to stay at Yosemite at night I thoroughly enjoyed the evening ranger talk about predators (that I've mentioned here before). #ParkChat

A6. Just incredibly intrigued to imagine life where you had to rely on the night sky to navigate from one point to the next. #parkchat

replying to @ArchesNPS @ArchesNPS #parkchat A6 we love to ask our 11yo what he sees before telling him the common names for constellations! Mountains, bears, and cats have been his favorites. π

replying to @ArchesNPS @ArchesNPS A6. I guess it's always different. I have a wild imagination, so clouds and stars alike can quickly transform into what looks like the outline of animals or people. #ParkChat

replying to @Parkasaur @Parkasaur @e_terren @ArchesNPS Oh my. What a delight for the visual senses! #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute You, uhm, might be overthinking the night sky just a little bit. I make a really mean campfire chocolate moonshine cocktail. You want one? #ParkChat

replying to @naturetechfam @naturetechfam @ArchesNPS So wonderful! What does he typically spot? #ParkChat

Q7. When it gets dark, we have to use our other senses. What are some of the coolest nighttime sounds? #ParkChat

replying to @Stars252525 @Stars252525 @ArchesNPS The constellation apps are quite fun, you should try downloading one #ParkChat

A6 not exactly answering the question, but i had a hard time finding the #southerncross when in a natl. park in australia. had to have a kind local point it out for me. it still didn't look like a cross to me. π¦ #embarrassing #ParkChat

replying to @ArchesNPS @ArchesNPS A6 Shapes in the stars? Usually food or something to do with food. Like maybe bacon. #parkchat

replying to @Stars252525 @Stars252525 @ArchesNPS I loved watching the Space Shuttle zoom over eve of it was just a blip in the night sky #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute Like the Polynesians. I became totally fascinated by their navigational culture after watching (of course) Moana. #parkchat

replying to @ArchesNPS @ArchesNPS A6 I love seeing constellations from different locations - at home I have lots of light pollution but at a National Park I can see more stars and gives the constellation a different look #ParkChat

replying to @naturetechfam @naturetechfam @e_terren @ArchesNPS Yeah. I'm not sure how I made it, other than not knowing it was coming. I'll always remember the last words of the guide before he turned out the lights "have you ever screamed before?" Me: "Huh?" Guide: "Because you're about to now..." #ParkChat

replying to @ArchesNPS @ArchesNPS Domestically, the Black Hills and Yellowstone are up there, but so is the Southwest - Utah, Arizona. Western North Carolina, too, in the Roan Highlands. The Mojave Desert. We had a full moon at Death Valley and Alaska isnβt really dark in August. #ParkChat

replying to @Stars252525 @Stars252525 @ArchesNPS I love to watch the space station, too! When we visited @NASAKennedy years ago most of it was in an enclosed room before being sent up, but we got to see it being manufactured! So cool to think it is up there now! #parkchat

replying to @ArchesNPS @ArchesNPS A7. I love the sound of frogs and water at night. #ParkChat

A6. I suppose I see the classic Greek & some occassional Norse Constellations.
I'd like to see one added though....for the Starship Enterprise! :)
