A8. Half Dome is NOT for the faint heart. Honestly have no idea how more people don’t get hurt, yet 400+ ascend each day. #ParkChat
replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A8 How hard the summit to @MtStHelensNVM was for me (not so much teenagers) 12 hour round trip. #ParkChat
replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A8 #Parkchat I learned recently that the designated campsites in @HaleakalaNPS crater have potable water! Now I really want to go back and hike the length of the crater (16 miles)
replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A8 Any trail where I come across an unexpected small waterfall. #ParkChat
A8 There's a trail in @MammothCaveNP where you can see a river flow underground and come back out again - it was surprising 'cause, like, wow, Mammoth Cave has cool above-ground stuff too?! #parkchat
replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax @Wild_Tribute A8: The fact that the @MammothCaveNP “trail” once was used as a TB ward was intriguing to me. #ParkChat
replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A8) I was told by the NPS intern at Isle Royale National Park that the Nature Trail was "easy" but I forgot to take in account the age & physical ability of the person telling me that. Hence for someone like me with mobility issues the trail wasn't that easy. 🙄 #ParkChat
A8: Be prepared when hiking at altitude. You get so tired quicker than you think. A 3 day trip at home might best be done in 4 at RMNP #ParkChat
replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A8. Beehive in @AcadiaNPS isn't as drop off-y as it looks. One of us thinks it's still very scary! #parkchat
replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A8) All the good ones surprise me but maybe for its sheer intriguing redrock canyon beauty would be Paria River, I was visually shocked around almost every corner. #ParkChat
replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax #parkchat A8 The boardwalk around Upper Geyser Basin @YellowstoneNPS was incredible. I thought it would be too crowded and underwhelming, and I was wrong on both accounts!
replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A8. #Parkchat The stunning Views at @Volcanoes_NPS and how the light made things look so differntly throughout the year and days there, just never gets old, also pretty cool to hike through a lava tube.
A8) It's a short walk, they said, you'll be in Maine in no time, they said. Lies. All lies. #AppalachianTrail #AT #ParkChat
replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A8: The formations at Arches are the result of an underground salt bed. It's incredible what an untold millennia of time, chemistry, and geology can do. #parkchat
replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A8: Angels landing. I was amazed at some of the sections that dod not have chains, mostly because it was so icy when I went #parkchat Also seemed weird that nobody closed the route
replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A8. Being alone on the geyser basin was surprising. It was winter, but the snow lodge was full. Just the 2 of us we had it all to ourselves (and the person in red too close to the bison) #ParkChat
replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A8 #ParkChat hiking and backpacking at Mineral King @SequoiaKingsNPS they limit the number of hikers on a particular trail which was a nice surprise
replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A8. The hiking at Wind Cave surprised me. The caves are very interesting, but I wasn't prepared for the beauty above ground. I've said it before--go for the caves, fall in love with the surface. #parkchat
