replying to @coasthikergirl @coasthikergirl @beckyjlomax Helicopter can take you there, right Mr. 59? #ParkChat

replying to @JrRangerTigran @JrRangerTigran Remoteness really add a layer of difficulty to maintaining trails. Good answer, Tigran. #parkchat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A8 #ParkChat hiking and backpacking at Mineral King @SequoiaKingsNPS they limit the number of hikers on a particular trail which was a nice surprise

replying to @somanyparks @somanyparks @beckyjlomax @ZionNPS No shame. I’d probably slide down on my rear too. #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax #parkchat A10 Lamar Valley Trail @YellowstoneNPS of course. My favorite place in the world. 😍And I am guessing about the same amount of snow there right now as in my backyard! LOL

replying to @beckyjlomax
@beckyjlomax A10. Anywhere there isn't snow on the ground. It's still Winter here. I'm tired of heavy packs, changing layers, etc, etc. So maybe the Smokies? Blue Ridge Mtns? Somewhere in the Southwest?
#parkchat

Q11. Bushwhacking is the art of navigating when a trail is not present. Highly looked down upon in sensitive vegetation areas, but at times necessary depending the scenario and Park. Any noteworthy bushwhacks you’ve experienced in the field? Tell us about it. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute @beckyjlomax Was totally unprepared. #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax
@beckyjlomax Great questions tonight! A10:
Pacific Creat Trail for the whole damn thing because get lost. // I think I just got inspired for the next on the real. Thank you @beckyjlomax and #parkchat !! 👣🌎❤️

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax @Wild_Tribute A6. We didn’t visit many National Parks as a kid, but we did hit @ShenandoahNPS and I remember encountering a sign about wilderness for the first time #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A10) We're going for something (really any trail) in National Park of American Samoa, saving us both the airline miles to get there and the hours on the plane! #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A10) I don't have any names for specific trails, but I would love to be beamed to @EvergladesNPS and walk the steamiest, jungle-like Florida hike with gators and pythons that I could find (the fresh falling APRIL snow out my window may have influenced this answer). #ParkChat

replying to @RCGibby73 @RCGibby73 Flatlanders ! rollyes ....actually good advice #parkchat
replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @beckyjlomax @GreatBasinNPS @Wild_Tribute #parkchat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A8. The hiking at Wind Cave surprised me. The caves are very interesting, but I wasn't prepared for the beauty above ground. I've said it before--go for the caves, fall in love with the surface. #parkchat

replying to @RCGibby73 @RCGibby73 @ParksandPoints Dude. I'm a travel writer. We protect our own haha. #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax @Wild_Tribute A7. People shortcutting across switchbacks is always a big problem. #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A10: Would love to go back to Havasu Falls Hike. (Havasupai) #GrandCanyon . That was an incredible hike. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute @coasthikergirl @beckyjlomax That’s how I’m beaming up this August. #ParkChat @maureenshenher2

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A11 We tend just to stick to trails. I have no sense of direction and prefer not to need SAR. 😉 #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax
@beckyjlomax A10 If it has to be a trailhead, then Torres Del Paine National Park in Chile!
However, if it's a Star Trek transporter, I wouldn't go anywhere with a trail or road - I'd beam straight into somewhere super remote and difficult to get to, probably in in the Himalayas. #parkchat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @beckyjlomax @GreatBasinNPS @Wild_Tribute If you were BEAMING I would think nobody would see it coming. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A11 #parkchat There were some pretty overgrown areas of the PCT in Glacier Wilderness this past summer. I’ve also bushwacked off trail to find alpine lakes to enjoy.

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax I did Mt Elbert in #Colorado tallest of them all. It hurt physically, mentally, and then spiritually. I'm reliving the pain as I post. #ParkChat

replying to @BRB513 @beckyjlomax @59NationalParks @SequoiaKingsNPS Why? I want to sit in the quiet among the giant Redwoods! #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A9: Years ago, I visited Haleakala without bothering to check the weather report beforehand. That was a mistake I won't make again. #parkchat

replying to @kristarsha @kristarsha @beckyjlomax The Crawford Path up to Mt Pierce had more rocks than I’d hoped for. I haven’t done Tecumseh yet. I’m taking notes! #parkchat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A9. I’ll go with the trek up Mansfield I mentioned previously as one of them. It goes up through the woods, up some more, clearing on to trails I know I’ve skied, back into wooods, and then emerges from them...and you’re left staring up the rest of a black diamond 🙄 #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A9: Katahdin Loop might be it. Long day. Much warmer than expected #parkchat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @Wild_Tribute @beckyjlomax @maureenshenher2 I never liked the helicopter visitors. They didn’t share their wine or cheese. Hmph. #parkchat

replying to @BRB513 @BRB513 @beckyjlomax @59NationalParks @SequoiaKingsNPS Us too...#ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A10) That's a question I wonder about almost every day, or week anyway, at the moment it would be cool to hike another part of Grand Gulch, maybe to Turkey Pen Ruin, in the Bears Ears region. #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax @Wild_Tribute A9. We lost our way briefly, and ended up making a forced march for the last two miles from Lake Chelan NRA into North Cascades National Park to catch the last ferry of the day out of Stehekin. Totally worth it for the memories. #ParkChat

A11 Right behind my house growing up - we often hiked to the top of the mountain, and we had to walk across an area that had been cut down to put a power line through, the secondary growth was really nasty #parkchat

replying to @somanyparks @somanyparks @beckyjlomax @aplarsen @YosemiteNPS I made it to the switchbacks just past Little Yosemite Valley and realized that I wouldn't make it to the cables in time so I just enjoyed the area and met up with my friends later in Curry Village. #ParkChat

replying to @louisbink @louisbink @beckyjlomax @GreatBasinNPS @Wild_Tribute Precisely. #ParkChat

replying to @coasthikergirl @coasthikergirl @beckyjlomax One of my favorite places! #parkchat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A9: white oak sink @GreatSmokyNPS. Not a hard hike, but with 2 tired kids it was a struggle on the way back. #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax @Wild_Tribute A10. Right now? It would have to be @DeathValleyNPS for the superbloom. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A11.) #Parkchat Yes, at @Volcanoes_NPS is got dark and I was with a group that got turned around and we could luckily hear a road but scary since there are cracks that drop straight down into the Earth that could have swollowed us!

RT @GPJohnston: @beckyjlomax A9) Climbing Rainier no doubt. #ParkChat https://t.co/GppSlT4GXP

replying to @RoadTripsCoffee @RoadTripsCoffee @beckyjlomax @GreatBasinNPS @Wild_Tribute You know, twitter does have a block feature which I’ve used before. #ParkChat

replying to @kokuaelli @kokuaelli @beckyjlomax I think the descent was harder...you want to go faster but opportunities for twisting ankles, tripping abound! #ParkChat

Thank you so much, #parkchat people, for joining in the Trail Talk Rumpus! You are all so supportive and jazzed about the parks. True fans of parks and the outdoors. Hike on!

A12 #ParkChat Despite the best high speed internet service on Grand Lake, our new home at Vinita, #Oklahoma is about 60 miles from anywhere. Still there is much to see and do. I’ll be moving there this weekend and Mrs. 59 will follow in the Summer. #ParkChat folks are welcome.
