replying to @TPRjerks @TPRjerks @beckyjlomax @RockyTopSkiBum That’s in NY? It’s beautiful! #parkchat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A3. Before digital cams, a friend and I hiked Hurricane Ridge at Olympic. There was a "super bloom." Masses of flowers, so many colors, lined the trail, and danced in the breeze. A sooty grouse, with great stealth she thought, crept by us with her brood. #parkchat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A6) I must have been in the 3rd or 4th grade when I went on a school field trip over to @MuirWoodsNPS, I was so mesmerised while walking the Coastal Redwoods that I bought a seedling tree in the gift shop & tried to grow it in my bedroom. #ParkChat

replying to @cleverwomanNY @cleverwomanNY @CongareeNPS I was thinking about suggesting this, but then I remembered the mosquito population. I've seen mosquitoes the size of small children on the Boardwalk Trail. #ParkChat

RT @beckyjlomax: Q7. What do you consider the biggest challenge the NPS has in maintaining park trails? Why? #parkchat https://t.co/bFwoBqe…

replying to @JrRangerTigran @JrRangerTigran @beckyjlomax @OlympicNP Whoa that sounds incredible! What an amazing opportunity. #parkchat

@beckyjlomax @Wild_Tribute A6. Well I remember being blown away by Moraine Lake in Banff Park, but the most exciting part was roadside #wildlife

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A6 though he started hiking in parks earlier than she did, we're going to have to throw it back to the origin of our quest in 2007 at @BadlandsNPS. Check out how awkward we are! Also enjoy this photo. It's not actually a digital one! #ParkChat

replying to @unconpeace @unconpeace @beckyjlomax @BadlandsNPS Neither could my kids! 😁 #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute @beckyjlomax Plenty of them in National Forest #parkchat

@beckyjlomax Cracker Lake in Glacier is def magical! I mean just look at that turquoise lake.

replying to @louisbink @louisbink @beckyjlomax @Volcanoes_NPS That's what I'm talking about! You should've taken one of those lightweight firefighter suits so you could've gotten closer. #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A6) My dad, sister, and I hiked a small(!) section of the AT one day on a whim during one of our numerous road trips. Loved those little moments. #ParkChat

RT @beckyjlomax: Q7. What do you consider the biggest challenge the NPS has in maintaining park trails? Why? #parkchat https://t.co/bFwoBqe…

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A7) Biggest challenge has to be upkeep. Trails are not cheap to maintain! #ParkChat

replying to @naturetechfam @naturetechfam @beckyjlomax @SleepingBearNPS A6) Thank you for that! I was at a total loss on early memories, but how could I forget that my first park experiences were in my beloved Mitten State!? Ditto on the @SleepingBearNPS dune hike for me. #ParkChat

RT @beckyjlomax: Q7. What do you consider the biggest challenge the NPS has in maintaining park trails? Why? #parkchat https://t.co/bFwoBqe…

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A6: I went on a summer-long road trip when I was barely more than toddler. However, I vividly remember the Grand Prismatic Spring at Yellowstone. You don't forget something like that. #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A6. My daughter (8) is badass. She has done some of the toughest hikes in the Northeast. She likes hard hikes, slide climbs and rock climbing. So, I may be the best or worst person to ask this question lol. #Parkchat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax Hello #parkchat , jumping in late but finally have a chance to join. My trail is sky pond @RockyNPS , several lakes and you get to climb a waterfall

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A7 #parkchat Keeping people on the actual trail. Cutting switchbacks and making side paths is a big problem, especially on the more popular trails.

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A4: waterfall and snow in the Sonoran Desert @SaguaroNPS was magical! This was on the Garwood Loop. #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A7) Funding & staffing are probably the biggest challenges the NPS has when it comes to maintaining the trails but though visitors can help greatly by following the #LeaveNoTrace principles while on the trails as well. #ParkChat

replying to @somanyparks @somanyparks Kudos to you for getting him out there! #ParkChat

replying to @somanyparks @somanyparks @beckyjlomax @BadlandsNPS What a great memory! And a real pic! (so rare these days, having too many of them seems to date us...) #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A7: I see a lot of erosion & 'secondary paths' that have have been trampled. Sometimes it get shard to pick out the trail! #parkchat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A7: I think weather is the most challenging factor in maintaining our trails. As we see today, weather does not adhere to calendar dates for seasons #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A7 Probably fighting Mother Nature. Rock slides, avalanches, water damage. #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A7) I agree with @ParksandPoints on this one #Parkchat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A7 The biggest challenge has to be budget. Trails are frequently remote and they have to be expensive to maintain. Plus I wonder where they land as a priority due to dollars. #ParkChat

A7. Great Q. Parking has to be one. Those who do not know how to follow LNT principles another, and finally, vandalism (the need for everyone to write their names or initials on trees/rocks) #ParkChat

replying to @somanyparks @somanyparks @beckyjlomax @BadlandsNPS Even with the Iowa State T-shirt, I can click "like" on that picture #GoHawks #parkchat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax @Wild_Tribute Going to the top of @HaleakalaNPS to watch the sunrise. Spiritually, it moved me hearing the Ranger chant the morning hymn with the sun. We loved it so much we got matching tattoos of it. #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A6.) Platt National Park(now Chickasaw National Recreation Area) as a child. I don’t know the trail name but it ran alongside of Travertine Creek. #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A6: My first park memory was the narrows at Zion National Park. I wanted them to put me down so I could play in the water. #ParkChat

replying to @Polymathically @Polymathically Wow. That’s some memory. Way cool. #ParkChat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax A5 #ParkChat Santa Cruz Island in @CHISNPS has some very nice coastal hikes with lots of Island foxes. They were some of my first hikes in a national park.

replying to @somanyparks @somanyparks @beckyjlomax Honestly, I was the second car in the parking lot that March morning :) ...not at all crowded going up or up top, but the trail started filling up on the way down. #parkchat

replying to @hksbks @hksbks @beckyjlomax @SleepingBearNPS We got to take our own kids on it two summers ago - it seems so much smaller now! #parkchat

replying to @beckyjlomax @beckyjlomax @tthrash Yeah. Becky won’t be influenced like that. #ParkChat
