A3 We cancelled an entire trip to West Texas and New Mexico. All of the sites we wanted to see were closed. So, next winter! #parkchat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3) I have to say that I have not had plans or a trip badly impacted. Sure, the occasional bad weather for a day or two but nothing to ruin the trip. Lucky I guess! #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3. Been very fortunate to never have that issue but I can imagine I would plan to revisit if it did, sometimes people don't get another opportunity though. #Parkchat

A3 I couldn't get to Harry Truman NHS during the Holiday season b/c of the gov't shutdown. It seems the buck doesn't stop here anymore #parkchat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3 Well, because of huge and sad vet bills last year, we had to cancel our fall trip to Big Bend. Trying again this fall. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3: My visits are only impacted by my lack of paid time off #ParkChat

A3. All we know is that our fingers are crossed over and over we have no wildfire issues doing the JMT in September. Otherwise, snow forced us to abort our first Half Dome attempt in 2011. Difficult lesson to first learn...plans are made to be changed. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3 #parkchat I had to skip a small section of the PCT in Washington due to a wildfire. I know of lots of people who were really disappointed by all the smoke

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3. A planned trip last year to @ShenandoahNPS was halted by snow. We visited @NationalMallNPS instead on that trip and visited Shenandoah later in the year #parkchat

#parkchat A3) I started research trips for my National Park Book (shameless plug) last year during the *first* government shutdown last January, and visited Big Bend during the shutdown. Honestly I lucked out, made it more peaceful with fewer people!

A3. I've cancelled planned trips because of smoke. We rearranged a backpacking trip at @MountRainierNPS because of wildfire. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3) I nearly had my visit to Zion National Park in January impacted by the Federal Government Shutdown but it ended right before I left for my trip. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3: Yes for all of the above and yes for plans to try again! My current quest to hike all the trails in Whiskeytown is on hold because of closures related to the #CarrFire. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3 #parkchat Oh yes, we had several parks and even multiple trips affected by the shutdown.

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3. In the last year it seems to have rained A LOT wherever I've gone. I made do, rearranged hiking schedules. This was still not as bad as dealing with a shutdown. #parkchat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3 YES! My park travel last year was impacted tremendously, but not from the reasons you mentioned….from exploding my hip in a trail splat. Had to cancel all kinds of backpacking and hiking trips. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3: we had to cancel a trip to Joshua Tree and modify trips to Everglades and Biscayne. We definitely want to reschedule/return. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash Jumping in late to #parkchat ! A3: Last year’s shutdown really impacted our AZ trip. We will be back, easy to say since we have family there.

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3: The fires here in California nixed any plans for a return trip to Lassen or anywhere up north, as well as a road trip down to Joshua Tree. Heavy snowfall also stopped my Yosemite plans. #ParkChat

@tthrash @Wild_Tribute A3: ah, those awkward moments when roads close due to unexpected snow...been there, done that. but sometimes, those detours take you to unexpected surprises, so i try not to let it get to me when it happens.

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3. A little over a month a go, I *think* that I visited my 318th Unit of the National Park System @LIRI_NPS_Fire - suffice to say, this one is on the revisit list. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3 our @EvergladesNPS trip was sadly lessened by the shutdown, but the @SFNPT & @FLNatlPksAssoc (& the vendors) did amazing work to keep the park accessible, safe and clean. Felt #blessed since our park trips are limited due to how far we have to travel. #parkchat
