replying to @Stars252525 @Stars252525 @unconpeace @MountRainierNPS I had that with Denali, so knew I was in trouble with Ranier. :) #parkchat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash You know that I have. Surviving the blizzards at @YellowstoneNPS last February (it was a next time trip) was part of the adventure. #ParkChat

Q4. I haven’t been to Yosemite since 1993. My next time there will be this summer. That’s the longest I’ve gone without returning to a National Park. What’s the longest you’ve gone between park visits? #parkchat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3: Yes for all of the above and yes for plans to try again! My current quest to hike all the trails in Whiskeytown is on hold because of closures related to the #CarrFire. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute @MountRainierNPS I know--and I didn't have to fly here just to see my plans cancelled. :-( #parkchat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A2. Even revisiting favorite parks, I’m always finding something new, whether it’s a part I had not been to, new interpretive programs, or just the newness revealed by the changing seasons of the year and the changing seasons of our own lives #ParkChat

replying to @Stars252525 @Stars252525 @tthrash @unconpeace @MountRainierNPS Same thing for me. We got lucky, too. BUT, I lost most of my photos from that trip. I will definitely need to go back! #parkchat

A2 @GlacierNPS, part of the return experience is checking out the glaciers. They are physically morphing so rapidly right now that I can note changes between years. #parkchat

RT @tthrash: Q4. I haven’t been to Yosemite since 1993. My next time there will be this summer. That’s the longest I’ve gone without return…

replying to @Stars252525 @Stars252525 @tthrash @unconpeace @MountRainierNPS Heading to @MountRainierNPS in July. Hope to see the mountain. Did not get to see Denali when we were in @DenaliNPS #ParkChat

RT @tthrash: Q4. I haven’t been to Yosemite since 1993. My next time there will be this summer. That’s the longest I’ve gone without return…

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr So true! I really enjoy visiting the same park during different seasons of the year and my life. I like to have a forced perspective change to reflect and enhance experiences. Same thing for me with books - I'll read favorites again every few years. #parkchat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A4: Visits to the same park....possibly forever :-) #ParkChat

A4 The first NP I visited was @ShenandoahNPS in 1993 - I didn't go back until 2016 #parkchat

A4. Has to be @RockyNPS. Went all the time when living in Denver. Haven’t been back since. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash
@tthrash A4 #Parkchat I used to live within a few hours drive of @JasperNP which is still one of my favouritest parks. I haven’t been in 6 years now.
Otherwise I’m ridiculously lucky to be within two hours drive to the middle of @NCascadesNPS

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A4. We’re trying to expand to new parks, so we haven’t made many return trips #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A4. #Parkchat Almost a year now! I did go to @EvergladesNPS in March but only for 2 nights!

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A2: combination. We’ve been to Shenandoah many times. we’ve ever done a hike twice yet. Smokies has so many trails too. Other places may have certain hikes I want to share with people. #parkchat

replying to @coasthikergirl @coasthikergirl @unconpeace @MountRainierNPS I love seeing @mountrainierNPS. Reminds me of my dad since we spent so much time camping and hiking as kids. #parkchat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3 #parkchat Oh yes, we had several parks and even multiple trips affected by the shutdown.

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3. In the last year it seems to have rained A LOT wherever I've gone. I made do, rearranged hiking schedules. This was still not as bad as dealing with a shutdown. #parkchat

replying to @InnerCompass @InnerCompass @tthrash @ParksCanada @WildWithinHer I like that idea...about 90 state parks here in Texas 🤔 might take awhile #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A4: My answer is incomplete until more Park visits. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A4 #Park It was #HotSprings National Park. First visit was in 1966. The next was in 2014. 48 years. Ugh. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A4: It was 10 yrs before we went back to @OrganPipeNPS. #ParkChat

replying to @kristarsha @kristarsha @InnerCompass @tthrash @ParksCanada I haven't put a timeline on my quest. I figure it'll take 2-3 years, and I'm trying to be okay with what a friend calls a "long event horizon." #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A4) Still counting. Just not enough time to revisit most. At least not yet. Plans are to get to many again. The plan with the kids was to introduce and then they could go back for a deep dive later. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3 YES! My park travel last year was impacted tremendously, but not from the reasons you mentioned….from exploding my hip in a trail splat. Had to cancel all kinds of backpacking and hiking trips. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A4 Went to @GlacierNPS in 2007 and again 2013. That was one of my longest separations between trips. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A4: But It has been a year since my last visit to any Park #ParkChat

replying to @publiclandlvr @publiclandlvr Of course, glad to hear that there are plans to try again! #parkchat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A4) A little bit longer, its been nearly 27 years since I've been to some of the East Coast National Parks like @ShenandoahNPS & @GreatSmokyNPS as well as @CapitolReefNPS & @BryceCanyonNPS in Utah. What can I say, life happens. #ParkChat

Q5. Limited time off or travel costs can shorten a possible park visit. Plenty can require nearly a day of travel just to reach. What’s your mindset: See a little of everything, or focus on one area or hike and plan on getting to more of the park next time? #parkchat

replying to @InnerCompass @InnerCompass I do that also and new passages or details emerge each time. I treasure the new revelations. #ParkChat

A4. Went to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Yosemite, Bryce, and Zion in 1980. Returned in 2014, 2014, 1988, 2018, 2018, in that order. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3: we had to cancel a trip to Joshua Tree and modify trips to Everglades and Biscayne. We definitely want to reschedule/return. #ParkChat

replying to @WildWithinHer @WildWithinHer @kristarsha @InnerCompass @tthrash @ParksCanada Man, if you guys only had an app for keeping track of all of those state parks and your visits. 😉🙃 #parkchat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @ParksPassport @NatlParkService @Wild_Tribute @rscottjones A1: Go back to parks where I put their stamp in the wrong section 😅 #ParkChat

replying to @evanturkart @evanturkart @tthrash Thanks, with the glare on my phone I wasn't sure I got it or not. #ParkChat

A4 I visited @OlympicNP when I was 11 years old. It took me 31 years to get back. #parkchat

A4) I didn't know I would be required to do math during the chat tonight! 😉 ... I (think) nearly 15 years passed between my visits @AcadiaNPS. #parkchat https://t.co/TKg8s8Xgk0
