replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @tthrash @GlacierNPS Thatās a great āNext Timeā...donāt have to twist your arm to go back and get the full experience #ParkChat

A6) I try to "do something" in each unit, but sometimes it's hard at places like @tulelakenps where the park isn't "built out" yet (aka, everything is fenced and you cannot enter). Also, on Hubs' first @YellowstoneNPS visit it was storming so bad we had to leave. #parkchat https://t.co/05JGgPpEKg

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A6: One of my greatest regrets was leaving @CapitolReefNPS early. I was just passing through from Moab to Mesquite in 1 day. I thought I'd have time for some hikes, but a storm blew in and ruined that plan. It's so remote, and I'll never know if I'll see it again. #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @tthrash I want that job! Do you ever do "test drives" and just not come back for a week? "Sorry boss, had to see how this thing does on the curves of Tioga Pass Road. A customer is definitely going to ask..." #parkchat

replying to @coasthikergirl @coasthikergirl @beckyjlomax @kristarsha @InnerCompass @tthrash @ParksCanada With a fraction of the people and the roads! #parkchat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A6: I rarely find my way into the visitor center unless I am looking for a warm bathroom on the way in or out #parkchat I usually have a specific destination in mind and if I accomplish my goal my conscience is clear.

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A6) So far time has always been the challenge. I have not been to a park yet that I did not want to return to later. Even Isle Royale that I mentioned earlier. It was a complete trip but still want to go back. #ParkChat

replying to @e_terren @e_terren @tthrash Yes! Thatās my goal as well. Sounds like how I travel. #parkchat

A7. I need to get back to a certain MD NPS site when the secret service hasnāt closed off 2/3 of it due to a certain guest, and I need to get back to Wind Caves after losing scores of pictures thanks to not being able to undo a camera setting triggered in the dark. #parkchat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A6) I don't know if there's going to be a next time, that's why I try to make the best of the situation like when I went to Mt Fuji. I may have not seen the mountain but at least I saw the Fall Colors. #ParkChat

replying to @evanturkart @evanturkart @SimonKIDS @NatlParkService Very cool, Evan. Fantastic #ParkChat

RT @tthrash: Q7. Forgotten gear, bad pictures, car trouble, etc.: What is the most humorous or bizarre reason a park visit or hike was curā¦

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A7) #Parkchat I've been stuck a few times, ran out of gas in @HaleakalaNPS and @Volcanoes_NPS but it turned out fine since I didn't really want to go anyway! Turns out, exploring those mountains uses a lot of Gas!

A7: Reason to cut a trip short at altitude? Being foolish enough to believe I was in shape for such an endeavor #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash Donāt know if I can do this in 280 characters. #WestVirginiaProblems There. I did it. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A5: we fall somewhere in the middle. we had a trip planned for Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia, but had to shorten due to conflict. We will just do Yosemite and return another time. Still so much we didnāt get to see in Yellowstone too. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash If it's a smaller park I might skip around. But no matter what, something will be missed. If I am short on time I'd rather not waste hours of it driving across large parks just to say I've been there. #ParkChat

A6 It seems like every park I visit, the time is too short. I always want to see and do so much more! Enjoyed hiking many trails in @Shenandoah last week, but left with many more still to do. #parkchat

replying to @WildWithinHer @WildWithinHer @coasthikergirl @beckyjlomax @kristarsha @tthrash @ParksCanada Wow! I was going to try the quest here in California, but when I looked up how many there were I decided to take a pass on it. Yikes! #parkchat

replying to @Polymathically @Polymathically @CapitolReefNPS That was me at Great Basin. Drove there, started driving up, then we were warned of very threatening weather. Almost planned to go back this year, but will happen soon enough. #parkchat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A7 We had to waste a day in Yellowstone going to Cody to get a headlight replaced. But it was a nice drive so. #ParkChat

replying to @RoadTripsCoffee @RoadTripsCoffee @tthrash This thermometer runs a few degrees above the actual air temperature, but standing out in the 'dry heat' for 5 minutes to wait for it to tick up from 119F to 120F was less than ideal haha #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash #parkchat A6 oh so many. @GuadalupeMtnsNP @petrifiedforestnps @CavernsNPS and @TRooseveltNPS were all too short or bad weather to explore. We know we will return to those! š

replying to @Stars252525 @Stars252525 @wxlada @tthrash Good grief! Well, at least the sunglasses had a perfect fit after that, right? #ParkChat

replying to @Stars252525 @RoadTripsCoffee @wxlada @tthrash Of course we were there in July. #ParkChat

replying to @Stars252525 @Stars252525 @RoadTripsCoffee @tthrash The way I describe it to people, being in Death Valley is like having a giant hair dryer constantly blowing on you #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute @tthrash @GlacierNPS No arm twisting required. Aiming for a 2020 return. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash @Wild_Tribute A7 #parkchat Swarms of giant mosquitoes in Wood Buffalo National Park had us running back to the nearest town. There was absolutely no question of camping in the park, or even of hiking!

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A6 had a day to spend @ZionNPS and it rained heavily so def need a revisit. also remind me to tell yāall the story of a trip to @BigBendNPS that was shortened bc of our rental carās past and an issue at the border patrol station...š³š± #ParkChat

#parkchat A7) I left all of my drawings from Haleakala and Volcanoes on a connecting flight and they were never found! š Long way to fly back, but I'll have to do it some day!

replying to @RCGibby73 @RCGibby73 My first ski day in CO was cut short by that very same reason. #parkchat

RT @tthrash: Q7. Forgotten gear, bad pictures, car trouble, etc.: What is the most humorous or bizarre reason a park visit or hike was curā¦

replying to @tthrash @tthrash @Wild_Tribute A7: I visited Canyonlands, Dead Horse, and Arches in one day. I lingered around the first two because I assumed I'd be able to stay late at Arches and get some stargazing in. Turns out they closed early for some reason, forcing me to rush around Arches in only 2 hours. #ParkChat

Q8. You visited a park years ago. Has/will your next time there been/be about introducing it to a friend, significant other, your kids, etc? Explain. #parkchat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A3. A little over a month a go, I *think* that I visited my 318th Unit of the National Park System @LIRI_NPS_Fire - suffice to say, this one is on the revisit list. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A6 #parkchat My visits to Carter G Woodson, Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers, and Mary McLeod Bethune Council House all sucked because most of the grounds were closed for renovation. Luckily, I have plans to revisit Woodson & McLeod this weekend, plus Charles Young next month.

replying to @tthrash
@tthrash A6: i'm ready to get back to @RockyNPS! i feel as though i didn't even scratch the surface when my dad and i only had a three hours for our visit. one hike was such a tease, but at least i got my picture at the sign.
#ParkChat

replying to @rscottjones @rscottjones @tthrash Yeah but Iām not sure he noticed. #ParkChat

replying to @tthrash @tthrash A7) I had to cut my visit to @BigBendNPS because of a crack in my car's radiator. I was buying "Stop Leak" at every truck stop from Texas to California in order to make it home before New Year's Day. #ParkChat

A7 I fell to my death off Angels Landing @ZionNPS once and I had to wait to be reborn to go back - I wonder why they don't call it Angels Launchpad #parkchat

A7 We left a great campsite at Colter Bay in @GrandTetonNPS early because we had bee tent camping for 10 days straight ( the previous 4 in a bad campsite in @YellowstoneNPS) and needed a break. That was the trip which inspired us getting a camper. #parkchat

replying to @Stars252525 @Stars252525 @RoadTripsCoffee @wxlada @tthrash That's what happened to us @GuadalupeMtnsNP. 105 was bad enough, esp w little kids. No hiking that day! š¢ #parkchat

replying to @kristarsha @kristarsha @tthrash @GrandCanyonNPS @BigBendNPS Two parks totally worthy of revisits! #ParkChat

replying to @RoadTripsCoffee @RoadTripsCoffee @wxlada @tthrash The plastic would just superheat the second I stepped out. It was unreal. #ParkChat

A7. In Grand Staircase Escalante, nearly avoided disaster embarking on the Boulder Mail Trail. Left my phone with all waypoints in GPS in the car. Hopped in a shuttle and had no way to go back. Fortunately took picture of a map from one of the few people we saw on trail #ParkChat

A7) We had a flat tire between @BadlandsNPS and @GlacierNPS. So thankful that @LesSchwab plugs tires for free and had us on the road in under an hour! #parkchat https://t.co/IF0BrwfpFk

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute @evanturkart @SimonKIDS @NatlParkService We love our #ParkChat authors.
