Q8 Enjoying scenic drives means lots of driving. What are some ways to be eco-friendly while road tripping through the #nationalparks? #ParkChat

replying to @RoadTripsCoffee @RoadTripsCoffee A8) Seeing how much you can coast on the downhill portions? #parkchat

replying to @RoadTripsCoffee @RoadTripsCoffee A8 This honestly is a tough one. The only thing I can think to say is that we should use our feet when possible and also use shuttles when possible. #ParkChat

A8 If you're in a really crowded park like @YosemiteNPS or @AcadiaNPS where there can be traffic jams, do the driving early and then take a hike later in the day, so you don't burn up gas just idling in traffic #parkchat
replying to @RoadTripsCoffee @RoadTripsCoffee A8 - I feel like an environmentalist every time my new Jeep auto shuts down when idling. #Parkchat

A8. Bring a water bottle and coffee tumbler and use and reuse. The little things add up! #ParkChat

replying to @RoadTripsCoffee @RoadTripsCoffee A8) I wish I had been more earth-friendly with how I supplied myself with water on long trips. I would buy bigger bottles, but that's still plastic waste. Next time I should figure out how to set up a container that I can draw from in my limited car space. #ParkChat

replying to @RoadTripsCoffee @RoadTripsCoffee a8. Take friends! Ride a bike! Take a hike! #ParkChat

replying to @RoadTripsCoffee @RoadTripsCoffee A8) Don't make the drive the main purpose. The drive should be the way to get to a trailhead to explore via walking. Also, use the park shuttles when available. #parkchat

replying to @RoadTripsCoffee @RoadTripsCoffee A8) I'm eco-friendly while at home by not making unnecessary trips to just one place, I'll wait until I have multiple errands to make which equals my road trips. #ParkChat

@RoadTripsCoffee A8: lots of cars now have, "eco" or "econ" mode, which uses less gas. i switch mine on frequently in parks. also, turn off that engine at stops!
