Q1. Bearing Land Bridge National Preserve is one of only two NPS units known to be home to Polar Bears. To us, that constitutes the “wild” in Wild Places. What else helps you define “wild” about Wild Places in general? #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1: For me "wild" comes from a combination of a more isolated location and the animals that roam that place

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1. No roads. Few people. Quiet. Good habitat. All resources that are shrinking, seemingly everywhere. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1) To define a "wild place" we'd pick having super limited access to a majority of the park from roads. #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1. Remoteness. Not drastic remoteness necessarily, but many miles from a big city or town. Few roads, very little infrastructure, etc. #parkchat

A1 No cell phones. Notice I didn't say, "No cell phone reception." I said, "No cell phones." #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1: if you asked me this a few years ago, I’d say a lack of cell service is a “wild place,” 😂 but now I’d say it’s more than that. It’s tranquil, and a place you can get lost in your own thoughts. #parkchat

A1 For me a "wild place" within a national park site means very little human development. No roads, paved hiking trails, or even fences really. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1. A place has a wildness if it has abundant plant and animal life, and a healthy ecosystem. #parkchat

A1 A wild place is a place where all is one, where there are no boundaries separating me from you, humans from nature, earth from universe #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1 for me, as someone who lives in NYC, escaping the noise of man, cars, city life still qualifies as wild even if it’s not as remote as our most wild spaces. Sometimes that’s really all i can ask for as an urban escape. #parkchat

To me a wild place is home to large mammals and has limited accessibility to humans
