Q4) Bering Land Bridge has a deep history of human habitation and use of these lands. It’s home to many Alaska Native communities: land, wild foods, and cultural identity are tightly woven to the landscape. Who or what shaped your relationship with wild places? #parkchat

replying to @BeringLandNPS @BeringLandNPS A4: I was introduced to the outdoors by my aunt and uncle. They planted the seeds when I was 10 or so. Unfortunately those seeds took decades to germinate into my love for wild places, Public Lands and National Parks. #ParkChat #reformedcouchpotato

replying to @BeringLandNPS @BeringLandNPS A4 My dad shaped my relationship with wild places. He took us hiking and camping when we were growing up. In fact, I thought everyone grew up hiking and camping. #ParkChat

A4: When I reflect, eyes closed, it’s the peace and solitude of wild lands that come to mind. I feel like I am one with nature and the universe. #parkchat #WildPlaces That is my identity.

replying to @BeringLandNPS @BeringLandNPS A4) Probably my Mom though I didn't realize it until after her passing. As a teenager she was into horseback riding & archery then when I was a kid she use to drive my sister & I to new places to see. #ParkChat

A4. My parents introduced me to national parks. My husband introduced me to hiking, camping, backpacking, adventuring. Living in the #PNW--well, there's a lot of wild here. #ParkChat

replying to @BeringLandNPS @BeringLandNPS A4. Certainly my family, with vacations into the mountains, then more of my own curiosity when I heard others talking about the National Parks of the Rockies and elsewhere. #parkchat

replying to @BeringLandNPS @BeringLandNPS A4 My dad, who should have been a forest ranger but chose accountant instead. He introduced me to wild spaces. #parkchat

A4 My dad took me on my first ever camping trip when I was 9 - then my parents got me a subscription to @NatGeo when I was 10, I can also remember some educational cassette tapes for kids that talked about natural wonders of the USA #parkchat

replying to @BeringLandNPS @BeringLandNPS A4) continuing my theme of Madagascar - that was my first significant exposure to camping, hiking, National Parks and made me want to explore my own country and national parks. Thank you #PeaceCorpsMadagascar #ParkChat

replying to @BeringLandNPS @BeringLandNPS A4. I grew up on the farm, a place not so wild. I read about wild places and dreamed of visiting them. National Geographic specials on TV were also an influence. #parkchat

replying to @BeringLandNPS @BeringLandNPS A4 1st appreciation for hiking/camping was in the @boyscouts & exploring the woods/trails near my boyhood home on Long Island. Began exploring NPS, public lands from getting bored of city life in my 20s. Then inspired to get outside more by my brother’s AT thru-hike. #parkchat

replying to @BeringLandNPS @BeringLandNPS A4 #parkchat I was a member of Girl Guides for a dozen years as a child and youth. My leaders introduced me to the outdoors and my friends helped me learn to explore it.

replying to @BeringLandNPS @BeringLandNPS A4: I learned to walk in the @TongassNF, but long after that my dad made it a priority to take us deep into the wilderness as often as we could go. After my parents divorced that meant spending time camping/fishing in @UmatillaNF and other @ForestServiceNW #publiclands. #ParkChat
