Q10. Have you literally ever had to physically balance in memorable or precarious fashion while on the trail? Tell us about it. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10 #parkchat So Many Times. I think the most memorable were all the sketchy and slippery log “bridges” on the Olympic Coast. Had to balance my way across those with a big heavy pack (before UL was invented 😅)

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10 I tend to avoid places where I need to do that. #ParkChat 🐔

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10. Hiking the fins in @ArchesNPS on the Devil's Garden trail certainly feels like a balancing act! #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10 Spring trails here are notoriously wet. Lots of root balancing and rock hopping. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10 #ParkChat before the North Rim opened, North Kaibab had some rock fall through the trail in a few sketchy drop-off areas. I put my poles in one hand, navigated along the rock piles and balanced myself with the other. It was a weird half-standing 3-limbed crawl strategy lol

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10 I guess trying to take a picture for a couple while snowshoeing. Took their shiny iPhone, then tried to step backward. The look on their faces as I was trying not to fall, then trying to keep their phone from dropping. 🤣 #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute a10 The rungs on the Precipice trail @AcadiaNPS required some dexterity for sure. #ParkChat

A10. To get to the true summit of Tolmie Peak in @MountRainierNPS, you have to cross a short but steep ridge. I still remember thinking, don't look at the view, wait until you're across. Worth it. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10 - too many times in my past (younger) years I've done some dumb things and scaled a few things. Balancing for life has happened before #Parkchat

A10: Yeah being just 2 feet from a mile long express lane to the Colorado Riverat Grand Canyon certainly caused me to asses my balance. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A10) Yes, while I was in the Boy Scouts we were hiking on a trail to the summit of nearby Mt Diablo when one of the Scouts put his hand on a small bolder to help himself up the trail which released it towards me, luckily I stepped back & the bolder went over the cliff. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute Jumping in at the end of #parkchat (4 school concerts in 2 weeks). A10: so many to count. The head of Sleeping Giant was a little dicey with 3 kiddos. Also some close falls in Glacier. I’m super clumsy, so pretty much every time!
