State Parks

Q11. Given proximity and quantity of many comparatively to National Park brethren, are State Parks generally more popular in the USA? #ParkChat
A11 I would say yes. I was surprised at how crowded Bear Mountain SP was the last time I was there. On a par with Yosemite Valley #ParkChat
A11. Good question. My guess is by total visitor numbers alone, yes. State parks are closer and often more economical. #ParkChat
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A11 I think national parks get more attention, perhaps, but we love state parks too. #ParkChat
A11 For general recreation as opposed to a destination, yes. State parks around here are often used for quick hikes, picnics, going for a run, etc. #parkchat
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A11: Honestly I don’t think so. I think they are taken for granted and many do not realize what is in their own backyard. #ParkChat
A11 #ParkChat: STATS! State parks had 807,264,826 visits in 2017, while national parks had 330,882,751. There are 8,565 state park areas in the US. https://t.co/Hr1BsvhUTr
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A11) 807 million state park visits last year according to @stateparksUSA which puts them well above the #NPS on visitation. #Parkchat https://t.co/tCb9hapSgA
replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A11) Perhaps that's the case for the State Parks where someone lives but nationally I think that the National Parks get more press. #ParkChat
