Q2: The #lewisandclarktrail today is unique in a way that everyone can experience history through recreation. How do YOU experience the trail? #parkchat

replying to @WildWithinHer @WildWithinHer @59NationalParks I think it's right in the entry hall at Monticello #parkchat

replying to @e_terren @e_terren @Wild_Tribute For Euro-Americans, yes. But not for the indigenous peoples who've lived here since time immemorial. "Discover" has become such a loaded term, hasn't it? Hmm. #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks I'm afraid I'm not an expert in tanning hides. I don't have kids #parkchat

replying to @MeToddScott @MeToddScott Some could also say Robbin Williams as Teddy Roosevelt and Sacagawea in Night at the Museum #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute @MeToddScott What a great movie . . . #ParkChat

replying to @LewisClarkTrail @LewisClarkTrail A2 We've stopped at various points of interest in regard to the expedition. Always enjoy history. #ParkChat

replying to @WildWithinHer @WildWithinHer @e_terren Well said, Lauren #Perspective #ParkChat

replying to @LewisClarkTrail @LewisClarkTrail We’ve made so many stops in the Midwest and West to read road signs, view historic points, and museums about the expedition #ParkChat There are lots of them.

A2. Mostly by car, I think. I've done all of the WA and OR parts of the trail, some of ND, MT, ID, PA, OH. And through the fine work of the LCTHF. #ParkChat

replying to @LewisClarkTrail
@LewisClarkTrail A2: I've only experienced the trail in St. Louis but since some quick research shows me that it starts in Pittsburgh, I now have another weekend exploration option!
#parkchat

replying to @WildWithinHer @WildWithinHer @e_terren @Wild_Tribute And that’s why I said explore. 😎#Parkchat

replying to @LewisClarkTrail @LewisClarkTrail A2) My first experience with Lewis & Clark was visiting Fort Clatsop National Memorial in the early 1990s. #ParkChat

replying to @LewisClarkTrail @LewisClarkTrail A2. I've visited some of the sites, read bits of journals. My goal is to drive their route from beginning to end, stopping at historic sites along the way. #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute @e_terren The worst thing about Twitter is that I think comments like mine come across as scolding, rather than a conversation opener. Where's the emoji for that? #ParkChat

A2. Living in southern Alberta we begin many of our road trips along the Lewis and Clark Trail in Montana. There is so much to see and several nice centers to visit along the way. #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute
@Wild_Tribute you could then go on to say a failed attempt by the American Treasury to replace the dollar bill with a coin like many other industrial nations.
Side note, in talking to bank tellers, it only took 3 years for people to stop trying to peel the loonie for chocolate #parkchat

replying to @misskimmy13 @misskimmy13 Some say the trail actually started in Louisville, KY, not St. Louis, MO #ParkChat

Q3: The Corps of Discovery was remarkably resilient and adaptable due to its diversity. In what ways do you think the diversity of the Corps reflects the diversity of America? #parkchat

replying to @LewisClarkTrail @LewisClarkTrail #parkchat A2 here in #southdakota you can enjoy the Adams Nature Preserve (Homestead) or the L&C Vis Ctr overlooking the Missouri River! Lots more to see and do on their route here.

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute @misskimmy13 How about Philadelphia, where Lewis went to learn about medicine, botany, etc.? #ParkChat

replying to @LewisClarkTrail @LewisClarkTrail @Wild_Tribute I did say I had dyslexia. and I am Canadian. We blame it on Wind Chill. ;) #Parkchat

replying to @t_jh2009 @t_jh2009 What a great site - it's now Lewis and Clark National Historical Park and it also incorporates nearby state parks to tell a more comprehensive history. #parkchat

replying to @WildWithinHer @WildWithinHer @Wild_Tribute @e_terren How about a gif? #ParkChat

replying to @59NationalParks @59NationalParks @Wild_Tribute @e_terren NOT scolding, Don! NOT. #ParkChat

@WildWithinHer @Wild_Tribute @e_terren We can wish. and a sarcasm font to go with it!
Also, it didn’t come across as anything but thoughtful to me.
#Parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute A1. Lewis & Clark: The greatest adventure of all time. #ParkChat

replying to @mdeichlerauthor @mdeichlerauthor Ahhh...glad you brought that up. The Trail was just extended to Pittsburgh by Congress last month! So it went from 3,700 miles to 4,900 miles overnight! So much more to see now. #parkchat

replying to @59NationalParks @WildWithinHer @Wild_Tribute @e_terren It was too easy. Had to do it. #ParkChat

A3 That it takes those from all walks of life to enable our country for success. #parkchat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute @WildWithinHer @misskimmy13 Remember. We have lots of HOFers. They know their stuff. #ParkChat

A3. It does and it doesn't. Much has been made of the so-called "vote" about where to winter. The expedition included a slave, an Indian woman, French trappers and traders, and so forth. It was of its time, I think. #ParkChat

replying to @t_jh2009 @t_jh2009 @LewisClarkTrail We visited there in 2004. My kids have great memories from Fort Clatsop & Columbia River area. #ParkChat

replying to @Wild_Tribute @Wild_Tribute @misskimmy13 Well @visitCville they claim it started there since that's the furthest point east Lewis began the journey to meet up with Clark . . . #ParkChat

replying to @WildWithinHer @WildWithinHer @Wild_Tribute @misskimmy13 The trail really begins where the universe began...which is everywhere #parkchat

replying to @LewisClarkTrail @LewisClarkTrail @mdeichlerauthor I'd love to have a printed map book we could follow to drive the trail. As homeschoolers it would be an amazing resource! #parkchat

replying to @LewisClarkTrail @LewisClarkTrail @mdeichlerauthor Interesting. #ParkChat

replying to @LewisClarkTrail @LewisClarkTrail A2. In 2005, I made the @LewisClarkTrail the ultimate road trip, taking along a copy of the Journals to read along the way. We did their three year journey in three weeks, but it was still incredible. #ParkChat
