replying to @Donald_Beard @Donald_Beard For sure - mostly referring to the culling for over-population at Yellowstone and the fear of disease to bovine poulations in the west. No question that scientist and conservationalist like yourself continue to promote ideas for balance and protection. #parkchat

replying to @Donald_Beard @Donald_Beard #parkchat A4 I'd bet money on the introduction of invasive species in the park, despite management efforts. This can affect their grazing land as well as the general health of the ecosystem. Also, being contained in an area (no matter how large) can affect their desire to roam.

A4. You could almost ask "in what ways *hasn't* this native habitat changed?". Caprock Canyons is one of the few places where the Southern Plains habitat remains mostly intact. Development, for farming, ranching, or otherwise, has altered the rest. #ParkChat

Q5: #ParkChat As the Official Bison Herd of the state of Texas, do you think visitors recognize the herd as a unique resource? What can we do to help visitors further appreciate both the scientific and cultural importance of the Texas State Bison Herd?

replying to @Donald_Beard @Donald_Beard #parkchat A5 always tough questions. Exhibits and Ranger programs at the visitor center or info panels along the road. Website articles, newspaper articles, social media are great ways to reach today's public with important info as well. Don't hide your history!
