Footprint stone @ Dunadd, where kings of Dalraita were crowned. The iron age hillfort is associated with #legends, from witches & fairies to King Arthur & Ossian. Ancient exotic trade goods found there tell us they were actually a worldly bunch. #scotlandhour #virtualscotland

A5. You won't be shocked that we find #Edinburgh's history the most exciting! From the medieval Old Town, to the Georgian New Town; there is history around every corner. #DYK @Edinburgh_CC was once The Royal Exchange, built in 1753 as a market place. #ScotlandHour

@KirstenAlana When I was small, I wrote a book called "Rule of the Unicorns". It had no plot, and wasn't great writing.
It's been completely rehashed for next year's release: Unicorns Rule
Get those childhood stories out the cupboard, and get writing! #ScotlandHour

McCaig's Tower, the crowing glory of #Oban. It was built by JS MCaig ca 1900 as a tribute to his family, who rose from poor farmers to wealthy pillars of the community. #Gaelic education programmes are still funded by the family's legacy. #scotlandhour #virtualscotland #drone

A5. St. Kilda. The UK’s only dual UNESCO World Heritage Site. THE most incredible location in Scotland IMHO. #ScotlandHour

One of the characters in Lavellan is a cat sith, a magical black cat from the Scottish highlands. Wondered where I got that inspiration from.

A5. Housing rolling mountains, vast lochs, the stunning #CaledonianCanal, and of course Nessie, the Highlands have to be the part of Scotland which excites us most! 🦕

@ScotlandHour A5 - so hard to choose. My personal favourite is probably Kilmartin / Dunadd as so much is hinted at but unknown. Also great food like The Fisherman's Kitchen

A5 I'm a big fan of the history of the Outer Hebrides - the prehistoric bits, the different islands invaded by Vikings and becoming independent and splintering from Norway, the free church and the many icons of the Virgin Mary. So different, despite the geography. #scotlandhour

A5 @ScotlandHour Always love a wee trip to see the in-laws in #StAndrews...some cracking spots in the East Neuk! We can really get our #history fix in the beautiful county of #Fife! ⚔️🏴🙌🏻 #Scotland #ScotlandHour #VisitScotland #HistoricScotland @VisitScotland @welovehistory

A5 @ScotlandHour Our heart is in the #Highlands and it’s the perfect backdrop to whisk yourself back in time and imagine the days old and the stories that were told...#history #heritage and beautiful #landscapes...it’s got it all! #ScotlandHour #VisitScotland

A5 @ScotlandHour Mind you, we’ve got a great deal of #historic wonders on our doorstep here, in Bridge of Allan...😬🏴⚔️ #Scotland #History #Heritage #Archaeology #VisitScotland #ScotlandHour #HistoricScotland #Medieval #ForTheLoveOfScotland

A6 We love the panels made by local artists and crafters interpreting the stories in poems and songs of Gaelic bard Rob Donn Mackay #ScotlandHour #18thCentury #OralTradition #SocialHistory https://t.co/hHraC7XvLT

A6: Because nothing is more soothing than a beautiful sunset – here are a few favourites from our historical sites, all of them holding myths and legends of their own!
(Can you name the sites?) #ScotlandHour

A6. Where to begin? Here are just a few of our favourite places at the castle that are packed with history and many an exciting story to tell. We'd love to see yours too! #ScotlandHour

A6. A 17th century, middle-class home; a city-centre cow shed; and #MaryKingsClose herself. Here are a few of our favourite images from The Close and just a small part of #Edinburgh's hidden history. #ScotlandHour
