History Myths Legends

One of the characters in Lavellan is a cat sith, a magical black cat from the Scottish highlands. Wondered where I got that inspiration from.

replying to @AmberparkXplore @AmberparkXplore I've heard this before and definitely need to get to more islands -- not just Skye and Arran -- to see for myself. #ScotlandHour
replying to @KirstenAlana @KirstenAlana @ScotlandHour That is so true. That's part of the reason why I love history & archaeology #ScotlandHour

A5. Housing rolling mountains, vast lochs, the stunning #CaledonianCanal, and of course Nessie, the Highlands have to be the part of Scotland which excites us most! 🦕

@ScotlandHour A5 - so hard to choose. My personal favourite is probably Kilmartin / Dunadd as so much is hinted at but unknown. Also great food like The Fisherman's Kitchen

#ScotlandHour According to local legend, Mary, Queen of Scots was meant to have watched the Battle of Langside from Crookston Castle. But the geography of the Glasgow area, means that she wouldn't have seen anything from Crookston @ScotlandHour https://t.co/yQ5UXXC5vY

And the myth of the Finfolk has been adapted in the sequel to Taking Wing, launching next year. The book is half set on the island of Eynhallow - a mysterious place!

A5 I'm a big fan of the history of the Outer Hebrides - the prehistoric bits, the different islands invaded by Vikings and becoming independent and splintering from Norway, the free church and the many icons of the Virgin Mary. So different, despite the geography. #scotlandhour
replying to @KirstenAlana @KirstenAlana @ScotlandHour Sometimes, when you read history, you will find yourself asking "What the actual fuck?" #ScotlandHour

A5 What part of Scotland excites you most for its history, myths and legends? #Scotlandhour #virtualscotland That's an impossible choice, but I'll speak up for #Glasgow as it's not come up much as yet --loads of #history and fair shares of legend & myth too
replying to @GavinSellar @GavinSellar Yes likely so where it’s now all boggy- Moine Mhor or the big moss. Would have made an excellent defensive position. #scotlandhour

A5 The Firth of Forth is packed with so much history - castles, abbeys/churches, fishing/trading ports, bridges, wartime & towns/cities! #Scotlandhour
replying to @ScotlandHour @ScotlandHour It's a huge goal. To eventually see it all. Plus live in Scotland for a while. Though might have to wait till it's no longer up to unkind UK immigration (maybe once Scotland finally gets independence, though that's a can of worms we should not open today). #ScotlandHour

@ScotlandHour A4 Be careful where you go with this, least it grows arms and legs at the hands of a tour guide
Consider my 90 year old Granny - She grew up less than 7 miles from where the Fairy Pools in Skye are and she'll tell you that nobody ever, ever called them that.
