replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @carornocar I think 1,000 + years qualifies as ancient #WesternWall in #Jerusalem -- over 2,000 years #TRLT

A1 The older I get the older "ancient" becomes in my vocabulary. Terracotta Army seems rather old now. https://t.co/JwtQH5Y5ub #trlt

A2. An ancient place I go for #culture is deep #Amazonia. The #Waorani people of #Ecuador were only contacted by #WesternCivilization 70ish years ago. Much of their ancient ways persist as does their ancient #forest

A2: The culture of Ethiopia is unlike anything I've ever experienced. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church feels ancient and special - such as this monastery on Lake Tana. #TRLT @EthioEmbassyUK

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @Nilemajesty @ExperienceEgypt #trlt Insurance as we know it started Edward Lloyd's coffee shop, which then evolved to Lloyds of London. A building which offends many, it's the youngest ever to be Grade I listed. It's also the third on the site, which itself dictates the shape due to historic street patterns

A2 I felt like I had entered monastic life when I visited the monasteries at Meteora, Greece. The only nod toward modernization they've made is to build some actual roads and stairs instead of hauling the monks up the rock in rickety baskets like the used to. @cruisewriter #TRLT

A2: Claire visited #Mons on Trinity Sunday for Le Doudou, a festival dating back to 1349 - it's even recognised as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity! https://t.co/UDbUZksK8E #TRLT

A2 I went to Sarawak, Borneo to meet the Iban tribe, who were still living just like their ancestors on the rivers. It was a great experience #TRLT

A2: Machu Picchu! They now limit the number of people who can visit in one day to preserve the culture and infrastructure of the ruins. #trlt

A2: I loved how the indigenous women of Bolivia often wore their traditional thick skirts, plaited hair and hats as part of their everyday wear #trlt

A2: Author of our #Ethiopia guide @philipbriggs calls #SouthOmo '#Africa as it once was, or as some might still imagine it to be.' https://t.co/FaclltJOta #TRLT

replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot #trlt #a1 I've spent a lot of time lately on rail trails. They are ancient in my books because they have been through abandonment and now re-use. In many cases the woodlands around are still ancient, because a railway does not carve the same path a road does.

A2: #India is an interesting mix of ancient and modern. There are ancient Hindu temples, such as this one, and plenty of modern conveniences too. Despite being an ancient religion, Hinduism is still widely practiced, especially in India. #TRLT

A2: We really enjoyed Costa Rica and how they embrace culture and their own ways of life having been the same for generations. It's a slower pace, with a deep appreciation for nature and roots. #TRLT
