#TRLT Q2: What Ancient Place have you visited because of its culture – a place that still clings to their old way of life and resists modernisation? Share a photo! @MyAdventureBckt @cruisewriter

A2: The Himba are a minority group in #Namibia and live almost entirely in their traditional areas in remote Kaokoland. https://t.co/u9FKLyLNMs #TRLT

A2: Despite that I’m a history geek I’m not so interested to visit places without modern facilities like comfortable bed and electricity. However I love all outdoor museums, 4D shows etc which really show how they lived back in time. #TRLT

A2: Travellers in #Botswana can visit the San people who until recently remained in the more remote areas of the #Kalahari. #TRLT https://t.co/uYTt4wzRc6

A2. An ancient place I go for #culture is deep #Amazonia. The #Waorani people of #Ecuador were only contacted by #WesternCivilization 70ish years ago. Much of their ancient ways persist as does their ancient #forest
#TRLT #Huaorani #Waodani

A2: The culture of Ethiopia is unlike anything I've ever experienced. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church feels ancient and special - such as this monastery on Lake Tana. #TRLT @EthioEmbassyUK

A2 I felt like I had entered monastic life when I visited the monasteries at Meteora, Greece. The only nod toward modernization they've made is to build some actual roads and stairs instead of hauling the monks up the rock in rickety baskets like the used to. @cruisewriter #TRLT

#TRLT A2: Tempted as I am to say "The UK, which still thinks it's 1941 in places" .... :p

RT @JeffTitelius: A2. Without a doubt, the #CaminodeSantiago #TRLT @WalkinSpain https://t.co/lyow5x7qxw

A2: Claire visited #Mons on Trinity Sunday for Le Doudou, a festival dating back to 1349 - it's even recognised as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity! https://t.co/UDbUZksK8E #TRLT

A2 I went to Sarawak, Borneo to meet the Iban tribe, who were still living just like their ancestors on the rivers. It was a great experience #TRLT

A2. I went to Lamu, Kenya because I had heard about its old buildings and Swahili culture and was not disappointed #TRLT

A2 Ancient place? Big chunk of people are stuck in the old ways. I love to visit England. #trlt

A2: Machu Picchu! They now limit the number of people who can visit in one day to preserve the culture and infrastructure of the ruins. #trlt

A2 Pretty much all of China. Everyone there reminds foreigners that "you can't understand our 5000 years of history." #trlt

A2: I loved how the indigenous women of Bolivia often wore their traditional thick skirts, plaited hair and hats as part of their everyday wear #trlt

A2: Author of our #Ethiopia guide @philipbriggs calls #SouthOmo '#Africa as it once was, or as some might still imagine it to be.' https://t.co/FaclltJOta #TRLT

A2: #India is an interesting mix of ancient and modern. There are ancient Hindu temples, such as this one, and plenty of modern conveniences too. Despite being an ancient religion, Hinduism is still widely practiced, especially in India. #TRLT

A2: We really enjoyed Costa Rica and how they embrace culture and their own ways of life having been the same for generations. It's a slower pace, with a deep appreciation for nature and roots. #TRLT

A2: a place that still maintains its culture, I found, is Bagan in Myanmar. Tourists are free to explore the ruins but families still visit to light candles, pray etc. It’s like a great mix of tradition and tourism #trlt

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @MyAdventureBckt @Cruisewriter A2 Mount Saint Mary's was founded in 1805, near Emmitsburg, Maryland The one-story, two room log cabin was the first structure built. I was awed by the history and sense of peace maintained. #TRLT
