replying to @ActivatedAdven1 @ActivatedAdven1 A4 #TRLT Well, it never really crossed my mind Washington DC could have midwest weather.

replying to @ActivatedAdven1 @ActivatedAdven1 A4: Again, maybe not extreme --- but much hotter summers in places w/o air conditioning make me rethink where to go. In Montreal recently, there was so much unsanded/unsalted ice that walking anywhere was really dangerous. Crazy. #trlt

A4. We had to drive through a hectic sandstorm on the way to Walvis Bay/Swakopmund. At times, the road was covered in sand and visibility was poor. We had romantic notions of possibly buying a holiday home in Swakopmund but this changed our minds!

A4. I crossed the #AtlanticOcean with @greenpeace during height of storm season. We hit the tailings of four #hurricane and were trapped inside the ship for days. It changed my perspective of #highseas a bit, an amazing #ocean #wilderness, but also dangerous & isolating

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @FunInFairfax #trlt a4 Without irrigation our surrounding region is essentially a desert with only about 8 annual inches of rain. During the heat of summer you want to plan your hikes of the valley early in the morning or early in the evening to avoid the summer sun.

A4: the extreme cold of the #Arctic made it that much more beautiful to me and with the right layers, it was even quite pleasant to hike the snowy lakes here! ❄️💙 #trlt #Sweden

#TRLT A4: After years & years of travel we have figured out how to more or less avoid extreme weather by staying on a circuit. The 1st year we got caught in blizzards that froze our propane tank, slept in snow suits to keep warm. Our philosophy: avoid extreme heat & cold.

A4. I knew Greenland would be a destination to travel flexible, because of weather conditions but it surpassed my expectations. Weather really has impact on your plans. Storm, but also heavy mist. In winter it is even more a factor to reckon with.

A4. You'll notice if a region is prone to certain type of extreme weather, they build differently. In South Florida, you mostly see palm and pine trees, because anything else won't make it past a Cat 3+ hurricane. #TRLT

A4: Maybe not changed my perspective. Rather confirmed it. Alaska is a wilderness country, where everything can happen. Better be prepared to change your plans within a minute. #trlt

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel A4) It sure has, I've visited the Palm Springs area in the Summer where the temperature reached 116°F but if you went up into the nearby mountains the temperature drops 30-40 degrees. Thus know your options while traveling. #TRLT

A4 Visiting regions prone to cyclones/hurricanes like eg Australia or Fiji, or Cuba always makes me feel sorry for locals and all the stress and hard work they have to put in. Year after year after year. #trlt

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel A4 The thought of Extreme Weather have prevented me from traveling places that have hurricanes during hurricane season and snow in winter. Trying to convince my friend to travel to Iceland during winter to see the northern lights. #TRLT
