Experiencing Local Life

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel A3 Shopping at local markets is a favorite way to interact and learn about all the food we don't see at home. This is Chef Anthony from @VikingCruises showing @CharlesMcCool and I around the market in Corsica. #travel #MyVikingStory #TRLT
A3: An activity that is ideal for experiencing local life, is walking. Exploring the lay of the land, you can feel a sense of place and much more.

A3: Learning to cook regional dishes. When we were in Morocco we had many opportunities to cook delicious food with the locals. We made notes so that we could try some of the dishes at home. #TRLT
A3. Perhaps not always the best plan but, years ago, a local in @Cayman_Islands suggested we take the city bus. We met commuters, kids on their way to school, folks headed to the corner shop...to this day it is still one of our favorite travel experiences! #TRLT
replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel Totally agree! I had so many great conversations crammed into overstuffed taxis in West Africa. Nothing else to do for hours but chat and look out the window. #TRLT
replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @FunInFairfax A3) Visit a local market, or soukh, or medina or whatever it's called. #TRLT Smell the aromas, meet the people, join the local habits....!
A3: The best way to meet local Canadians is going on a hike. You are always bound to meet a friendly fellow outdoor enthusiast. #TRLT
replying to @JLipowski @JLipowski A3 Sit at the bar whenever you can for a much better chance of interacting with locals. The owner at @StudioBrew in @MyBristolVisit Virginia created a special concoction for @CharlesMcCool and I featuring a smoked glass and a nitro stout. Yum! #travel #SWVA #VAbeer #TRLT

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @FunInFairfax A3- Not sure about “experiencing”, but I try to do a free walking tour to get to know more about the city and and the people. Lisbon #TRLT

A4 #trlt travelling to #Antarctica led to several long lasting friendships with fellow passengers from far flung places.
A3- A proper drink is a good way to way to experience local life #TRLT #travelingsession
replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @FunInFairfax A3: Slightly different take on this question, but I've found bicycling is a magnet for getting involved with locals in so many ways. It's led to shared meals, conversation, and one time watching TV together on the floor of this lovely family's hut in Laos. #TRLT
A4: A local experience on #TRLT that has led to a long lasting friendship was meeting a couple from Victoria B.C., in Jamaica. We've stayed good friends and travelled together since.

@JLipowski @wmyhappytoday Don't mind me jumping in mid chat 🙈
A4: I just spent the weekend in Helsinki and got chatting to a local which led to an evening long bar crawl. Hopefully a lasting friendship too! #TRLT
