Q5: What tips do you have for discovering more when you travel. Share a photo! #TRLT

A5. Keep an open mind, embrace all that surrounds you and connect with the cultures and most of all, the people who live there. Open your heart and you'l find they'll open theirs too! #TRLT

A5: My advice for discovering more when you travel is to travel slowly - and combine your time in a destination between seeing the major sites and wandering away from the tourist trail. It is incredible what you can find. #TRLT

A5 1) Travel slow 2) Get local knowledge 3) Leave gaps in itinerary for impromptu detours #trlt #travel #adventure

A5: It's not always necessary to have every minute of every day scheduled when you travel. Take time to talk with local people, tell them about your interests, and get their advice. You'll discover new experiences you love and never expected!

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel A5 Slow down and walk when you can. Wandering around a new area is the best way I've found to discover a new place. #travel #trlt

A5 Take a food tour on your first day visiting a new city. The local guides always give you tips for the best places to eat and great locals’ favourites. It’s the best way to see the real destination and not the guidebook version. That’s exactly what we did in Athens! #TRLT

A5: The best tip I have for traveling on the road less traveled is to plan a bit. I look for local "calendar of events" & then show up for parades, festivals, & other public events. This way I catch cool things like this Mille Maglia race in Florence. #TRLT

To discover more - PLAN LESS and be more spontaneous and random.
Usually find the best places and experiences that way. Sure, have SOME plans, but I love to wing it for the majority of the time.
Random turn on a dirt road in Colorado led to discovering this.

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel A5: #TRLT Ask the locals. Research local locations before your trip. Find people to talk to while on your trip and adjust your trip to give the local experience.

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel A5: Get hands on. Don't just look at the view, BE the view. #TRLT

replying to @JLipowski @JLipowski A5 Be prepared to change your plans at the drop of a hat. #TRLT

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel A5: Follow ur heart. Say hello to people. They really want to talk, but many of us don't/won't listen. Said hello to the security guy at the Samsung store yesterday. Today, I returned, he remembered me/welcomed me. Had a 5-minute convo about his job & life. #TRLT #WhereisKerwin

replying to @JLipowski @JLipowski A5) Unless you're going to be in different types of weather conditions and/or terrains, travel light since its much easier to get around that way. #TRLT

replying to @JLipowski @JLipowski A5- Easy. Take free walking tours. The guides know a lot of history. Get know layout of city. Places to eat on the cheap. Go where locals go. And so much more. #TRLT
