Q1: Favourite encounter of winged animal? @charlesmccool @worldwidexplore #TRLT Sri Lankan New Year with Kandy friends: walking along the jungle lane between houses, we were surrounded by fireflies. Magical. Also seeing Cressbrook Dale (Peak District) lit up with glowworms.

Q2: Destination ideal for bird watching? @FuninFairfax #TRLT The #Netherlands is superb for waders and waterbirds. A cycle around #Lauwersoog and the #Islands north of it is fab. Sights and sounds of curlew, lapwing and sandpipers. Good sightings as it's so flat and treeless.

Q4: A culture where birds play an important role? @FuninFairfax #TRLT I did a cruise on the Nile and this kingfisher landed on our railing. Obviously birds were important in Ancient Egypt as we saw from hieroglyphics. I wonder if birds are still important in Egypt?

Q5: Best tip for viewing winged animals? #TRLT Travel slowly: walk, cycle, or even better, sit down and be still. Here's a stork in its nest - hard to miss! Saw many as I cycled along the Rhine and Danube, on telegraph poles and chimney tops like this one.
