Q2: Which lesser known museum do you recommend to visit on The Road Less Travelled? Show us a photo! via @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC #TRLT #traveltuesday

A2: two in Warsaw. The Chopin Museum: multimedia, activated by smartcard, very good. The Museum of Hunting and Horsemanship: slightly misleading name, as it's more of a natural history museum. @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC #TRLT

A2: The Etches Collection Museum of Jurassic Marine Life in Kimmeridge, Dorset, which is home to the “finest single collection of Kimmeridgian fossils” + you can watch the ongoing palaeontological discovery in action.
#TRLT Q2 via @CaitlinKellyNYC and us.

A2: When it finally reopens after renovations, the State History Museum of Kyrgyzstan in Bishkek is worth a visit, especially for its fascinating insight into the Cold War era. #TRLT

A2 I'd say the @corningmuseum in @CorningFLX - I was there twice. I enjoyed the hands-on glassblowing and learning about the science behind Corning via @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC #TRLT

The open air museum of Bagan #Myanmar is a true beauty with thousands of ruined buildings. #TRLT A2

A2. The National Railway Museum in Buenos Aires, AR. We stumbled across it meandering randomly around & admission was free! Housed in an old train station, full of interesting antique technologies used in operating a major train system in the past. #TRLT

#TRLT A2: well - speaking of Zagreb ... there's a small museum called (I think) Zagreb 80 that is set out like a typical Yugoslavian flat from the late communist period, complete with decor, music, technology, goods, clothing ... it's all also rather interactive.

A2 If you like looking at old junk and long words, check out the AutoMotoVeloPhotoTeleRadio Museum in Vinnytsia, Ukraine. #TRLT

replying to @HeidiSiefkas @HeidiSiefkas @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC A2 While the #DC museums are great, we have a lesser-known Smithsonian right here in Northern @VisitVirginia. The Udvar-Hazy center is a spectacular and giant air and space museum. https://t.co/19ut2PGFCc #trlt

@TheTravelCamel @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC A2: I 100% recommend the Museum of Broken Relationships - not just about romantic relationships, but family, food, body, etc. There are a few I think but I went to the one in Zagreb.
I even wrote about it, I loved it that much! #TRLT https://t.co/Qy1aVlDYKF

#trlt A2: also, in Bletchley UK there's a couple of museums on the site of Bletchley Park, the WW2 codebreaking operation. One of them though is basically a history of computing and computers. You can play games, yes.

replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot @PureTraveller A2: Well NYC is hardly off the beaten track, but the Tenement Museum, on the lower East Side, is fantastic -- vernacular life. Also, total opposite, the Beaux Arts mansion on the Upper East Side, The Neue Galerie -- with Klimt's portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer. #TRLT

A2: Two of London's less famous exhibitions are well worth a visit: the Grant Museum of Zoology in Bloomsbury, and the clock and watch collection at the Science Museum (the world's oldest such collection) @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC #TRLT

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC A2 : The Viking Ships Museum in Roskilde, Denmark 🇩🇰. #TRLT

A2: Cope museum in Vientiane, Laos. This museum tells you the story of all those cluster bombs that were released and laid being the most bombed country in the world. Amazing #TRLT

A2. The Detroit Institute of Arts has a great collection. I never appreciated its quality until I took two grad school roommates from Europe several years ago and saw how impressed they were. #TRLT

replying to @RTWBarefoot #TRLT A2: there is also, related, it was in Nottingham but is now in Sheffield, a museum specifically devoted to computer games, from the late 1970s arcade cabinets through to modern consoles and experimental things.

A2: A lesser known museum, I'd recommend on The Road Less Travelled, is the Santa Cruz Surfing Museum 🏄♂️ in California, a gnarly glimpse into surf culture. I love the ironing board, Burt Landess used as a belly board at Cowells beach.

@TheTravelCamel @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC A2: I was pleasantly surprised by Birmingham's museum.
Really interesting and another free museum. #TRLT

A2: I'd recommend visiting Svalbard. Everything is left as it was from mining, whaling and other enterprises. You can see everything exactly as it was left - including the airship mooring mast at Ny-Ålesund #TRLT

replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC A2. Well I can still remember the museum in Okinawa for the war which I thought was fairly done and very interesting. I poured over letters they let you read and it was heartbreaking. There’s an outdoor memorial there too. #trlt

@TheTravelCamel @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC A2. The Aga Khan Museum in Toronto.
The first museum in the western world dedicated to Islamic art and objects.
#TRLT

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC A2: Casa Birla in Delhi, India. It's the house where Gandhi spent his last 144 days. It is also home to one of my favourite captions. #TRLT

#TRLT A2: We nearly didn't bother with the Museum of Hunting and Horsemanship, but it was fascinating. And the curator was so proud of the new figure of a 19th century gentleman with realistic ears. https://t.co/UyPFeOT47K

replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC A2: The Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain. A wide and historic collection of art - truly amazing. #TRLT

replying to @HeidiSiefkas @HeidiSiefkas @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC A2) There are a number of Visitor Centers at @NatlParkService Areas like this one at @JDFossilBedsNPS in Oregon that have exhibits & artifacts that help interpret the history of the area. #TRLT

replying to @jasontravelblog @jasontravelblog @TheTravelCamel @PureTraveller A2: I forgot --- The Titanic Museum in Belfast. It sounds cheesy and voyeuristic but it's not. Truly impressive -- built to the size and shape of the ship itself. The only off-putting thing (gross) is a gift shop. Not cool. #TRLT

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC A2: Row Houses in Houston https://t.co/HqT8gyHuzU #WhereisKerwin #TRLT https://t.co/ix3GN124Wg

A2- If you're ever in #Jamaica, I recommend checking out the #BobMarley mausoleum in #NineMile

#TRLT A2: there's a few museums in/near Adelaide (a surprisingly large city to be lesser-visited), incuding a railway museum documenting the hsitory of trains/rail in Australia. Lots of exhibits, and lots of engines.

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC A2 @Visit_Amarillo has an incredible RV museum, the official US quarter horse museum, and Cadillac Ranch (I will call it a hand-on outdoor museum). #TRLT

A2: the @MemorialActe is one of the most comprehensive and engaging museums wholly dedicated to the global, collective memory of slavery and adult trafficking and is a must-visit when in @ilesGuadeloupe @visitGuadeloupe @CA_FranceFR @PRatoutfranceCA #TRLT

#TRLT A2: oh, and for definitely lesser-known ... in the Detroit suburbs (Dearborn, I think) is the Arab American National Museum, a small museum devoted to the history of Arab-Americans and their culture in the USA.

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC #TRLT A2 The first lesser known museum from me is the Tanji Village Museum, Gambia — this young man put on a demonstration (just for me!) of weaving on these incredibly long looms.

replying to @jasontravelblog @jasontravelblog @TheTravelCamel @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC A2. I think everyone should visit the Museum of Slavery @SlaveryMuseum in Liverpool, in the maritime museum. It's not a fun activity, but it's so essential in providing context to our lives. #TRLT
