replying to @HeidiSiefkas @HeidiSiefkas @corningmuseum @CorningFLX @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC That was such a cool one! I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the museum and made a glass flower in the workshop (twice actually because the worker helping me dropped my first one haha). #TRLT

replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 A1 - museums are always high on our list when visiting cities, but it’s not usually the only reason. #NYC comes to mind for us. last time we were there we had to go to the MOMI (museum of the moving image) in Queens for their video game exhibit. They also had muppets! #TRLT

@TheTravelCamel @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC A2: I 100% recommend the Museum of Broken Relationships - not just about romantic relationships, but family, food, body, etc. There are a few I think but I went to the one in Zagreb.
I even wrote about it, I loved it that much! #TRLT https://t.co/Qy1aVlDYKF

#trlt A2: also, in Bletchley UK there's a couple of museums on the site of Bletchley Park, the WW2 codebreaking operation. One of them though is basically a history of computing and computers. You can play games, yes.
replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot @PureTraveller A2: Well NYC is hardly off the beaten track, but the Tenement Museum, on the lower East Side, is fantastic -- vernacular life. Also, total opposite, the Beaux Arts mansion on the Upper East Side, The Neue Galerie -- with Klimt's portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer. #TRLT
replying to @ramblRramblR @ramblRramblR Museums are always memorable, learning opportunities. #TRLT

replying to @travels_galaxy @LindaPeters64 I had actually planned to go to New York in March of last year to visit the @whitneymuseum for the Mexican Muralist exhibit, but of course 2020 wasn’t the best time to visit New York. #TRLT

A2. The Detroit Institute of Arts has a great collection. I never appreciated its quality until I took two grad school roommates from Europe several years ago and saw how impressed they were. #TRLT

replying to @HeidiSiefkas @HeidiSiefkas @corningmuseum @CorningFLX @PureTraveller I ended up there totally accident enroute to Canada -- a great museum with a huge collection. The carved Roman cage cups alone. #TRLT
replying to @RTWBarefoot #TRLT A2: there is also, related, it was in Nottingham but is now in Sheffield, a museum specifically devoted to computer games, from the late 1970s arcade cabinets through to modern consoles and experimental things.
replying to @itsjustbecks_ @itsjustbecks_ @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC The second mention of this museum already during this edition of #TRLT @adventuresandem also talked about this museum in tweets.

replying to @DrNeilMatthews @DrNeilMatthews @PureTraveller Nice! I would (have been) add Freud's House....check out his office chair! #TRLT
replying to @PureTraveller @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC @etchescollect @RachDigsOtters That sounds like exactly the kind of thing I love. I've only been to Kimmeridge to scuba dive + didn't get time to explore much beyond the beach #TRLT
A2: A lesser known museum, I'd recommend on The Road Less Travelled, is the Santa Cruz Surfing Museum 🏄♂️ in California, a gnarly glimpse into surf culture. I love the ironing board, Burt Landess used as a belly board at Cowells beach.

replying to @CatrinaKirkland @CatrinaKirkland I didn't even know it existed until I got there, pretty much! Yes, it was, very interesting! #TRLT I like that sort of thing, blus for me it's kind of 'personal nostalgia' as, tho a Brit, I just about remember the time period!
replying to @TheTravelCamel
@TheTravelCamel @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC A2: I was pleasantly surprised by Birmingham's museum.
Really interesting and another free museum. #TRLT
A2: I'd recommend visiting Svalbard. Everything is left as it was from mining, whaling and other enterprises. You can see everything exactly as it was left - including the airship mooring mast at Ny-Ålesund #TRLT
replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @PureTraveller @CaitlinKellyNYC A2. Well I can still remember the museum in Okinawa for the war which I thought was fairly done and very interesting.
