Q3: What is the strangest or most unusual thing you have eaten or drunk on The Road Less Travelled? Show us a photo! via @coastalspc @BradtGuides #TRLT #traveltuesday #travel #food

A3: The strangest things I have ever drunk? Homemade shubat (fermented camel's milk) and kumys (fizzy horse's milk), bought from a market in Almaty, Kazakhstan. One of them was quite nice; but my goodness, the other.

A3: Collapsing in Georgia's mountains; toasting Armenia's revolution; nights in Russia's scary bars and hotel saunas: I've spent half my travels getting drunk on my own. Then there's the secret door in Azerbaijan.

A3: Goat Head Soup is a meal I never want to try again. I have many fond memories of Zimbabwe, but that meal was definitely not one of them. #TRLT

A3: Anyone fancy a glass of Yukon Jack whiskey garnished with a genuine, severed human toe? The only rule is: ‘You can drink it fast, you can drink it slow, but your lips have gotta touch the toe’. Would you be brave enough? #TRLT https://t.co/ttG4aRaumF

A3: Piranha that @HMatthews67 caught on the Orinoco in Venezuela. Note the sharp teeth and the eyes of a killer (and the piranha too). Rumba the parrot decided to join us for lunch. @coastalspc @BradtGuides #TRLT

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @coastalspc @BradtGuides A3: Definitely barnacles, which look like little rocks but they taste like essence of the sea. I’ve eaten them in Portugal, when I was hiking the Fisherman’s Trail along the Rota Vicentina. #TRLT

A3: Although I don't have a picture of the dish, it was in #Madrid #Spain cojones (testicles). I'd say the texture was chewy and taste a little bitter/acidic with lots of olive oil and garlic via @coastalspc @BradtGuides #TRLT #traveltuesday

A3: I don't consider anything that strange or unusual, but many people think lampredotto (4th stomach of the cow) is a bit odd. It's a Florentine speciality that I'm partial too now. I think it's fun that the 1st three stomachs just aren't good enough! #TRLT https://t.co/3vY0yPA5rO

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @coastalspc @BradtGuides A3: Another strange food is sheep’s head, which I first ate at the Reykjavik bus station. (It’s the entire head, including the tongue.) #TRLT

#trlt A3: deep fried insects, of various kinds, is probably the baseline here, tho when I descripe pork scratchings (a standard British foodstuff) people go 'what?'. And then there's haggis, obvs ...

A3 Japan. The 1st pic is from Fukuoka and I couldn't honestly say what most of the food was. The 2nd is from Kyoto where Bungo helped us to sample bracken jelly with soy flour; just the type of food a #Womble likes @coastalspc @BradtGuides #TRLT

A3. In Arctic Russia some ethnic groups have a drink made from Reindeer blood. As well as their beloved frozen fish. Probably some of the more unusual foods I’ve encountered. #TRLT

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @coastalspc @BradtGuides A3. Scorpion skewers on Khao San Road. Century egg in Penang. And balut in coron, Philippines. Honestly. All tasted pretty good too lol. #trlt

A3: Wood Worms in Puerto Princesca! A hint of bark chip and oyster, long, long oyster texture. The strangest or most unusual thing I've eaten or drunk on The Road Less Traveled. via @coastalspc @BradtGuides #TRLT #TravelTuesday

A3 I had some questionable dishes during my trips around Asia. Sometimes I didn't even know what I was eating. Sometimes was better not to. In one of these photos I remember trying the "snake wine". In the photo with the yellow food, underneath there were fried bugs #TRLT

A3: If you enjoy Scotch whiskies, why not try Kazakhstan’s national drink kumys? The horse’s milk is fermented in leather sacks, giving it a similar smoky flavour. Although @jonathancampion recommends refraining from smelling it beforehand! #TRLT https://t.co/bL8zI1sCiV

replying to @OanaRoua @OanaRoua A3. Snake tequila and fried crickets are big in Baja, Mexico too! #TRLT

A3: While I am not very adventurous with strange or unusual foods, trying Alligator bites in Chandler, Arizona was a memorable culinary adventure on The Road Less Travelled. Luckily they tasted like chicken!

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @coastalspc @BradtGuides A3: Hm...probably not strange for Australians, but I love kangaroo meat. Didn't really get the obsession with aioli (instead of mayo) in Australia but that's as adventurous as it gets with me and food #Sorry #TRLT

replying to @HeidiSiefkas @HeidiSiefkas @coastalspc @BradtGuides A3: Frog dog cat monkey birds octopus eggs, well most anything that has swam or crawled out of the ocean, parts of critters that are better left nameless. #trlt

A3: Our @adrianphillips1 tried some of Ecuador's famous chontacuro grubs while on his travels there. The verdict? Tastes like bacon! #TRLT

#trlt A3: Kava. A drink so ... of a taste, that even the locals in the South Pacific, as a rule, don't actually like it - they just drink it because of its effects.
Comes from the root of a plant. Tastes like the plant's still growing in the soil.
Still, better than Dr Pepper.

A3: Try to imagine eating a lump of chewy, pungent blue cheese chased with a shot of ammonia – that is hákarl for you. While certainly a strange experience for tourists, this traditional Icelandic dish almost has the status of an edible national medal of honour! #TRLT
