Historical Places
TRLT
#TRLT I am a history graduate so I’ve going to historical places whilst travelling. Museums, ruins, architecture are always top of my travel lists. I always study the history of a place before I go.
This is me exploring the Roman ruins at Ostia, Italy in 2018. https://t.co/gDeJRXLuDr
replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @travelhistory1 A1. Arguably anywhere is historical but I like going to historical sites to really glean info and context more naturally and just absorb whatever remains on the spot. 📸: Mount St. Helens. #TRLT #ramblr

@HeidiSiefkas @travelhistory1 A1: I love to visit historical places (especially ones in nature) because it gives you a real perspective- and a walk in the same foot steps as those during that time in history!
DryTortugas was also a prison (and a military fort), 1800s. #TRLT
replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @travelhistory1 A1: since I was a kid, I got a passion for #History, traveling to historical places is my favorite thing! Currently I'm in #Cordoba, #Spain where the #Unesco world famous Mezquita is located! #TRLT
replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @travelhistory1 A1) Perhaps its because I volunteered for years at a historic site that I'm drawn to visit historical places when I travel at home and abroad. #TRLT

A1: I enjoy going to historical places to learn more about the people and culture from the past, to feel a deeper connection and understanding to a place.

A1- I visit historic places because there's something about seeing mankind pushing past the limits of what was thought to be possible

replying to @featherytravels @featherytravels Gylen looks really impressive from the water. You can imagine it in its heyday, commanding the ships sailing in + out of Oban + down the islands #TRLT
Many places have history but the golden palace monastery in #Myanmar is pretty special with is beautifully carved columns #TRLT A1
#trlt A2: "Historical" is such a vague term.
So, for instance, here we see the site of the world's first public ATM. A historical event, for sure, and dating from 1967. Enfield, London.
The ATM is no longer there; it was moved round the corner of the building because of crowds.
A2: In terms of the place which has most recently become historically famous: perhaps (horrifically) Chernobyl? #TRLT
A2: Yesterday, editor Laura went to the grand opening of the newest of London's Tube stations - the first addition to the Northern Line since 1926. History in the making! #TRLT
#trlt A2: Croydon Airport, London's first major commercial airport, 1920-1959.
Site commemorated with a replica of the last type of plane to fly from it. And some of the art deco buildings remain.
A2: A lot of #Havana #Cuba is great 1900-1920s history/architecture #TRLT #traveltuesday
