A4: If you're in Michigan, I suggest visiting Motown to learn about rock-n-roll & more and then, for contrast, Edsel and Eleanor Ford House to see how the wealthy Ford family lived. #TRLT https://t.co/BDYDo73lwl
A4: According to Anna, our Head of Editorial, the best way to absorb the colourful history of North Yorkshire is with a visit to Whitby Abbey. At nearly 1,500 years old, its stunning gothic ruins are still a sight to behold. #TRLT

A4. Around the Highlands, islands and Argyll, there are countless ruins of houses and villages which were abandoned during the Clearances (either by force from landowners or economic necessity). This is what remains of the township Upper Gruilin on Eigg, cleared in 1853. #trlt
replying to @HeidiSiefkas @HeidiSiefkas @LindaPeters64 A4 There are so many...I'm going to suggest Fountains Abbey which is one of the largest and best preserved ruined Cistercian monasteries in England. #TRLT
Visiting #Oxford with its medieval colleges like All Souls @LibAllSouls everyone should visit if only to admire the work of the gardeners #TRLT A4
replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @travelhistory1 A1: Historic places always provide interesting perspectives for me. This is a citadel in Spain’s Extremadura region. #TRLT
#trlt A4: In Yorkshire is the town of Haworth. More famous for its "Wuthering Heights", it hosts a series of 'historical weekends'. / re-enactments. A couple of years ago I went to the WW2 weekend they had on.
[They also have a hippie/60s weekend theme but I never went to that!]
replying to @HeidiSiefkas @HeidiSiefkas @LindaPeters64 A4) I'd recommend seeing the Panama Canal, its an engineering marvel that should be seen in person. But for me it was putting the stories my Dad told me about going through it while he was in the Navy into perspective for me. #TRLT
replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @RTWBarefoot A3: It’s not the oldest but it’s old. These are ruins of a Roman aqueduct in Pula, Croatia. #TRLT
There appears to be a lot of talk about Yorkshire today.
Five years since I've been, and so long to go back.

A3. The rock carving at the summit of Schiehallion probably isn't that old, but across the area there's countless carved + etched stones left by the Picts + as a probable pre-literate culture, we really don't know that much about them #TRLT
replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @sl2016_sl @LindaPeters64 I enjoyed seeing the Tower of London from the Thames. #TRLT
replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 A4: I guess because I’ve been traveling in my region too much during this pandemic, I’m kinda over it, for now. So, instead I’m thinking back to my month in Southeast Asia. This is a 19th century citadel in Vinh, Vietnam. #TRLT
A5: Editor Susannah recently enjoyed a Dickens-themed auditour of Bloomsbury, London. So much to see if you slow down and look more closely at your modern surroundings, hidden historical gems all around – and don’t forget to look up! #TRLT
A5: Colchester. I didn't know it was Britain's 1st recorded city and (under the Romans) its 1st capital. The only Roman Circus that has been found in Britain is here. The Castle has some outstanding Roman artefacts, and a chariot racing simulator! @ramblrramblr #TRLT
replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @HeidiSiefkas Being in one of the locks is an experience that I won't forget as well. #TRLT
