A4: One place and I’m not sure it is classed as an island I had a mishap was when I went to the Amazon. The luggage went missing! #TRLT

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 A4 : If we consider Venice an island, I slipped on the muddy side of the Grand Canal and nearly lost my phone in it during the acqua alta in November 2018. The atmosphere was so wet it took quite a long time before my clothes were dry. #TRLT

replying to @BlueBagRedBag @BlueBagRedBag @HeidiSiefkas @t_jh2009 @LindaPeters64 @TheTravelCamel Have you looked at a map of the border between Saint-Martin & Sint Maarten? A boatload of rum must have been consumed while surveying that! #TRLT

A4 #TRLT I don’t know what I did to flag Canada Customs, but the 3 times I’ve entered through Vancouver Island, twice I’ve been stopped for more extensive questioning. Worth the trip though.

replying to @Travel_Session A4- Traveling to #Boracay involves flying into Manailla which I can best describe as organized chaos

A4: The Channel Island of Alderney can be prone to fog. Our (very small) plane back to Southampton on the mainland was postponed for a day. Not a major disaster. [pics by @HMatthews67] @LindaPeters64 #TRLT

replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot @CharlesMcCool A2. Obviously other than the time I lived on a very small island + started my own cargo cult, for me it would be Shetland. A mixture of Scottish, Norwegian + North Atlantic influences makes something quite unique + special. #TRLT

A4 During our time in #Panama, we were tasked with visiting some family properties to see if they could be an #AirBnB? One of them was on a remote island that we took a tiny fishing boat to get there! And busses before that. We made it and it was beautiful. #traveltuesday #TRLT

A3. Istanbul has the Princes Islands just a ferry ride away - a world of calm compared to the hectic megacity itself #TRLT

replying to @epicureanexpats @epicureanexpats @LindaPeters64 @CharlesMcCool You are most welcome, Tiffany! Note that the train travels much of the way inland from the coastline & does not have some of the services often found on long-distance intercity services. Ah, but the destination! #TRLT

A5: The Isle of Thanet (no longer an island, but...) Visit Broadstairs which Dickens loved, Margate where JMW Turner lived, Ramsgate where #GothicRevival architect AW Pugin built his own home and church, or Canterbury for the Cathedral *and Bagpuss!* @ramblrramblr #TRLT

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 A4: oh yes, some places are quite the journey. Not a misadventure, but going to the Caramoan Islands in the Philippines is planes to Manila, then a plane to Legazpi, then a 3-hour drive then a 1.5 hour or so ride in a boat ride to the island. Fun though; kind of. #TRLT

#TRLT A5: So, there's lots of islands around Scotland, Many have been mentioned in this chat already. But if you can, take a trip out to Horta, the main island of St Kilda. Remote, a World Heritage Site, an abandoned village, unique sheep, and lots and lots and lots of birds.
