replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 A2) The closest place like that to me is Scotty's Castle in Death Valley National Park which wasn't owned by Scotty and isn't a castle. #TRLT
replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 A2: Yes the #Alhambra palace in Granda Spain. Is the most important surviving remnant of the period of Islamic rule in the Iberian Peninsula (711–1492). #TRLT
A3: The Golden Gate Bridge was built over Fort Point. Most bridge visitors stick to the main viewpoints, but this is my favorite spot to see it #TRLT #SanFrancisco
A2: A nearby Fort that's history fascinates me is Fort Langley; known as the birthplace of British Columbia, Canada. 🍁
Built in 1827, as a Hudson’s Bay Company fur trading post, on the Fraser River, it was once part of a trade route for the British Empire.

@LindaPeters64 A2 #TRLT We enjoyed discovering the ruins of Fort Craig in New Mexico. It had connections to the US Civil War and westward expansion/wild west stories. Found it by accident on a cross country road trip!

A3: Remains of Duntulm Castle on Skye, originally Iron Age, then fortified by the Norse rulers of Skye and finally a 14th-century creation of the Macleods. There are 3 ghosts: a murderer, a clan chief and a nursemaid. We don't know if there's a haunting rota! #RTWBarefoot #TRLT
A3 The most unusual spot for a castles, palaces and forts might have to be San Marino - a separate country located in the middle of Italy! https://t.co/l4arXqF2bI @VisitSanMarino #TRLT @TheTravelCamel @JLipowski @RTWBarefoot
replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 A2. All of them, but closest to me are the coastal forts - which is US history that you can walk through still. 🗺: https://t.co/Fff8X1yAVq #trlt
A3 #TRLT Not really an unusual place, but I found it interesting the Louvre started as a defense castle in medieval times & later became a museum. You can see the original foundation as you enter the building.
A1: The Rif Fort provides great views of the motley colored buildings in #Willemstad, #Curacao.

@TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 A2. Raigad fort and the stories associated with the place are quite impressive but the story which intrigued me the most was the story of Hirkani. To know more about her, read here: https://t.co/dJcTtXcLUI

replying to @TravelAtWill @TravelAtWill @LindaPeters64 @ramblRramblR Not a castle or a ruin but there is an interesting place in Kotka, Finland, an Imperial Langinkoski Fishing lodge of the emperor Alexander III of Russia located at Kymijoki riverside. A very beututiful summer house for him and his family. Very well preserved. #TRLT
A3: I loved Cienfuegos #Cuba where I got to play with the draw-bridge. It was very hands-on which I like via #RTWBarefoot #TRLT #traveltuesday #adventure

replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @ramblRramblR Thanks, #TRLT hosts! Can never pick just one! I really enjoyed (clockwise from top left): Al-Karak castle in Jordan; the Citadel in Herat, Afghanistan; Ait Ben-Hadau in Morocco; Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall in Guangzhao, China)
A3 Another most unusual spot for a castles, palaces and forts might be Boldt Castle located in the middle of the St Lawrence River between Canada and the U.S. https://t.co/LQejdD9gdA @1000IslandsCan @Boldt_Castle @RTWBarefoot #TRLT @LindaPeters64 @heidiSiefkas
replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 A2. I’m surrounded by castles (Dundee has four and used to have many more). I think the ones that fascinate me most are those no longer around, like Dundee Castle (now St Paul’s Cathedral) and Aberdeen Castle (now Castlegate). #TRLT
