replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 A2: Unfortunately not nearby but I’m fascinated by old castle ruins, such as Tintagel. There’s so much history and room for imagination 🧡 #TRLT

A3 Today it seems surprising to find a huge fortress right in the centre of a city, but historically Bukhara was frequently under attack and citizens would have hidden inside the Ark. #TRLT

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel A3) Fort Matanzas (Photo 1) in Florida falls into that category, its more of an outpost along a river inlet that was used to warn troops north at Castello de San Marcos (Photos 2 & 3) in St Augustine. #TRLT

A3: one of the most unusual locations that I've visited was Ehrenbreitstein Fortress in Kloblenz, #Germany.
An amazing feat of architecture & self reliance, Ehrenbreitstein, is beautifully perched high above the Rhine river, an ideal viewpoint for safety.

replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @RTWBarefoot A3: Zuheros Castle nestled in rock, occupies a privileged position. Founded by the Arabs in the ninth century, the current appearance was probably built in the 11th or 12th century when the area was ruled by the Zirid dynasty. 3. Urquhart Castle, on the shores of Loch Ness. Dates from 13th century. So incredibly unbelievable that the ruins are still standing!

A4: @RabyCastle in Co Durham is seriously impressive. Check out the gold in the Octagon Drawing Room! The high Gothic arches of the entrance hall had a practical purpose: easy entry for carriages @travelatwill #TRLT
