A2: About 10 miles from us lie the ruins of @BerkoCastle, where the Anglo-Saxons surrendered to William the Conqueror in 1066. Thomas Beckett owned (and lost) it, Geoffrey Chaucer was Clerk of Works here and it features in Graham Greene's novel Doctor Crombie @LindaPeters64 #TRLT

A2: Fort Mason is standing strong in case we ever need to blow up the Golden Gate Bridge. Also (and more significantly), during WWII, two-thirds of all U.S. troops sent to the Pacific passed through this port #TRLT #SanFrancisco

A2 #TRLT Fort Clatsop is part of @LewisClarkNPS. A reproduction of the original fort is behind this welcome center. When Lewis & Clark were exploring the Pacific NW, they stayed at the original fort in the winter of 1804-05. Interesting place to see if you get this way.
