replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel A5. I connect by eating a pastry or ice cream at an outdoor cafe (peoplewatching), walking the streets and neighborhoods, and eating from street vendors #trlt

A5: To connect with street culture during travel - it is best to travel slowly. Take time to immerse and the wonders of a destination will slowly reveal themselves. #TRLT

A5: Take local transportation - This is a ferry in #Havana #Cuba #TRLT #traveltuesday #travel #cubatravel

A5 #TRLT I usually take a walking tour when I arrive in a new city. They will tell you about this kind of thing. I’ve also gone online & found local things of interest & just read your travel books.

A5 I try as much as possible to connect with locals. Because most of the times I travel solo, I am quite successful at starting conversations with locals and finding out about their favourite gems in the city. #TRLT

replying to @JLipowski @JLipowski #TRLT a5 - be open. Not everyone takes time to look at street art. Research it before heading to a place so you know where to go. Map a route in case people in your party aren't interested. 'Let's try this great lunch place here - oh look, it's next to some amazing street art! 😂

A5 I just try to talk to everyone I can. I ask them about their political views, and about how they see the world. Also, I love to ask about how people experienced relevant events (relevant to their country). #trlt

A5. I start by researching. I'll Google "[city] street art" and see what resources come up so I can make a list of places not to miss when visiting a new location. In some cases, if there are local experts, I follow them on social so I can be informed. #TRLT https://t.co/thcwQvLfNB

replying to @HeidiSiefkas @HeidiSiefkas A5: Take public transport, ask locals questions and just wander round - lose your way, don't have a plan or time constraints. Safely. We stumbled on history, a wedding and traditional Andean dance troupe just by wandering around Cusco, Peru #TRLT

A5: Walking, taking public transportation, doing some research to discover where public art is, or locals gather to share music with others, plus where/when local markets are; all connect us with street culture during travels and share memorable adventures.

replying to @JLipowski @JLipowski A5) I mentioned this during last night's #RoadTripChat on visiting the First Nations of the Southwest United States, I'll apologize for my ignorance when asking a question about their culture. That way more often than not they're willing to help educate me then. #TRLT

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel A5: just walk around and say hello. I went to a night market in Taiwan many years ago & it was fun as the sellers enjoyed my reactions to the different foods. They were eager for me to try stuff. Luckily, I had a friend who knew Mandarin so she translated. Just go with it #TRLT

A5. Don't let fear be the driving motivation behind how you interact with those you might meet on the street. I still remember this man in 🇮🇳 who gave me a rose so fragrant it perfumed my bag for days after, simply because I took the time to stop & talk with him. #TRLT https://t.co/Txev3JcqTe
