#trlt A5: in general, & this is a controversial thought, a lot of modern developments in old/ancient cities are better than the things they replaced, because those things are falling down beyond repair, or otherwise not fit for purpose. Not all old things are worth preserving.

replying to @RTWBarefoot #trlt that said, some places have the knack. Like putting perspex flooring down to cover the ruins so you can still see them but equally still use the ground they occupy (Malta, here, as an example; a museum above an ancient ruin).

Some battlefields here in England have guided tours, replica armaments, and even interactive displays that let you see what the battle would have been like at the time. Otherwise it'd just be a field and your (uninformed, alas) imagination. #trlt
