A5 #TRLT I don’t think you should have it planned to the last minute, but I do recommend a rough outline of where you want to go, what you want to see & amount of time you have. If you can book ahead of time, I’d recommend that.

replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot @postcardsplaces A5) If you're traveling with someone else give each other time to be by yourselves so you don't get on each other's nerves on the road. #TRLT

A5. First, mentally get into the mood of a memorable road trip - disconnect, travel slowly, responsibly, be open to new experiences, get lost to discover yourself, meet a stranger, be flexible, and above all enjoy the MOMENT !! 😍🙏 #TRLT https://t.co/X4MehBBOME

A5: Don't cram too much into your itinerary. Give yourself time to stay extra longer in some place if you wish. Also, having a good supply of music is very useful. #TRLT

Aside from fuelling stops for vehicle, hoomans, (+ possibly quadrupeds), expect stops because you've seen something worth a closer/longer look than a "glancing blow" on the highway. Try not to rush to next destination; the road trip here really is about the journey.

Prep as general tip:
As I've done 4 wks in Vienna, I did the "hard yards": research online incl. many books on art, architecture, history; YouTube videos in original language. Prep allowed me freedom to view city as canvas; knowledge my paints; my time spent its "art".
