Long Journeys

A5 If you're going by train, take a good book! @HMatthews recommends THE WRITER'S TALE by Russell T Davies. Also: take toilet paper (not a direct alternative to books, you know what I mean...) #TRLT @LindaPeters64
A5: Best advice for long journeys - allow extra time for delays or detours to explore. Being rushed during travel, and especially long journeys, is not a good way to experience the world. #TRLT
replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 A5: Pack light. Use hotel laundries. Build in down time. Budget 10-15% more than you plan. And be sure to say 'yes' to impromptu opportunities to learn about where you are! #TRLT
replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 Be sure to arrive in good time at your next destination! Arriving in the dark isn’t much fun and can be unsafe. ESP with African roads & the lack of lightning/ headlights #TRLT
replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @TravelAtWill Exactly! People do carry too much stuff these days #TRLT
replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 A5. Rest days are essential. They say it’s all about the journey but it’s not, it’s the moments you pause and reflect on how far you’ve come. Or if you’re travelling in a group, the moments you steal for yourself. #TRLT
replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @TravelAtWill Finding somewhere to charge your gear! Phone/camera/batteries is always a challenge for us #TRLT
A5: Tips for travellers?
Organizing long cross/multi country trips is challenging.
Fuel up, pack snacks, extra water, emergency supplies & reserve some accommodations based on driving a set number of miles a day.
Leave time for unscheduled stops, be open to change; enjoy.

replying to @JLipowski @JLipowski @LindaPeters64 A5) Expect things not to go as planned like when I visited Costa Rica and they were being hit by rain storms caused by Hurricane Matthew over the Caribbean. #TRLT
If you are on a long journey make time for visiting UNESCO world heritage sites. Some are well known others less so but nearly all are worth some of your time
Can you name these? #trlt A5

@HHLifestyleTrav @RTWBarefoot @TheTravelCamel @roadtrippingroy Great advice, Hannah.
On our recent Costa Rica travels, we tried to balance adventures, with a day of down time between them. #TRLT
replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @TravelAtWill Variety is the spice of life! We love to use a variety of vehicles on a long journey #TRLT
replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 A5: Get Lounge access. Check all your documents and ensure you have transit rights; assume nothing. Pick comfortable seats. Have fun. Don't stress. #TRLT If you can afford it; fly up front :-). Singapore Business Calss and Economy Calss on the A350-900ULR and Qatar Airways QSuite
