Long Journeys

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 A5. Rest days are essential. They say it’s all about the journey but it’s not, it’s the moments you pause and reflect on how far you’ve come. Or if you’re travelling in a group, the moments you steal for yourself. #TRLT
A5: Have a back-up plan (or plans). Make sure to have extra water on hand and even extra food if you can spare. Come prepared for anything and expect the unexpected. #TRLT

@HHLifestyleTrav @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 I was alwasy very, very, bad at building in 'down time', especially on my backpacking trips.
Travelling for 2 months and feeling the need to be doing something or going somewhere every day because otherwise it's a waste of a day. #trlt

A5: For long journeys, be sure to pack all your necessities in your personal item/carry-on in case of delays including medication, toothbrush/toothpaste, and fun diversions like a good book. #TRLT

replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot @HHLifestyleTrav @LindaPeters64 Didn't take me too long to realise that a day of doing nothing repays itself in my ways later on. Nothing wrong with chilling out at times. #TRLT

replying to @RTWBarefoot @RTWBarefoot @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 I am too. @roadtrippingroy and I joke that we are going to have a 'chill holiday' in Sept, but I doubt we'll be able to sit still for more than a day! But, on bigger trips, the older we get, the more I build in a down day after busy ones! #TRLT

AGAIN #Q5: What tips can you recommend for travellers planning a long journey? via @LindaPeters64 #TRLT
replying to @findinganeish @findinganeish @LindaPeters64 Fully agree. When I had longer itineraries, I'd ensure to have a day of doing nothing every 2 weeks. It is time well spent. #TRLT
A5: Tips for travellers?
Organizing long cross/multi country trips is challenging.
Fuel up, pack snacks, extra water, emergency supplies & reserve some accommodations based on driving a set number of miles a day.
Leave time for unscheduled stops, be open to change; enjoy.

If you are on a long journey make time for visiting UNESCO world heritage sites. Some are well known others less so but nearly all are worth some of your time
Can you name these? #trlt A5

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 Absolutely. For me it’s about finding a balance between macro and micro travel. For every mountain climbed, it’s nice spend some time pootling around the village at the bottom or perched in a bird hide. #TRLT
