replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @BradtGuides A1: I like excavation sites, such as the Acropolis, Pompeii or even the Great Wall of China. It fascinates me how long these builds have stood the test of time and are still preserved today when they've been constructed with simple methods and natural materials. #TRLT

A1. When you’re looking to learn about the history of a place or thing, nothing beats a museum. From London's Old Operating Theatre to The Pitt Rivers in Oxford, England is full of historical exhibitions just waiting to be explored! #TRLT

replying to @BradtGuides @BradtGuides @CaitlinKellyNYC @LindaPeters64 Soane's country retreat @Pitzhanger in Ealing (9 miles W of the Museum) is also well worth a visit. A lot of the Museum contents were originally here #TRLT

A2. Christ Church Cathedral must be one of the best-known buildings on the Falkland Islands. It is the southernmost cathedral in the world and for part of its history was the main cathedral for the missionary diocese of South America! #TRLT

A2 Avebury Manor in Wiltshire - a Tudor house, later inhabitants included a Governor of Jamaica, tenant farmers and a millionaire marmalade magnate (try saying that after a few drinks). Different rooms reflect different points in the Manor's #history. #TRLT @LindaPeters64

A2: The magnificent Nasrid Palaces in Alhambra, Spain are a marvel to behold. Best to visit at night - the lighting is superb. #TRLT

A2 #TRLT Hua Lo prison in Hanoi, Vietnam. The US Senator John McCain was held here during the Vietnam War & wanted to see where he was held. Most of it is gone today, but you can still see part of it.

A2 I enjoyed a visit to Vianden Castle on a recent trip to Luxembourg. It's been very well preserved/restored (and, therefore, it's easy to imagine medieval life) and has dramatic views, yet hardly anyone else was there #TRLT

A2. Anyone with an interest in historical architecture should pay a visit to Latvia’s capital city. Riga has the highest concentration of Art Nouveau buildings anywhere in the world – and they’re stunning! #TRLT

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 A2: Oh, as such I would definitely nominated the UNESCO world heritage city centre of Bruges. It's absolutely gorgeous with it's 12th and 13th cent buildings. Belgium in general has lovely gothic architecture and transport you back in time #TRLT

A1. So tricky for us to choose our favourite kind of historical place as Istanbul is such a complex web of different elements through time. Sometimes it seems the old cobbles in the streets and the worn treads of marble stairs have best seen how it all joins up! #TRLT
