Good morning from Metro Vancouver B.C. Where are you joining today's #TRLT chat on 'Castles, Palaces and Forts' from?

Hi from Toronto. Did you now we had a castle in the city - Casa Loma? #TRLT @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 @JLipowski @heidiSiefkas @RTWBarefoot

A1 I must admit I am drawn to castles and palaces for the design and opulent decoration. Especially when the insides are open to explore. #TRLT @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 @JLipowski @heidiSiefkas @RTWBarefoot @postcardsplaces

A1 #TRLT I like the history that comes with forts. Fort Kluze in Slovenia has been there in various forms since 1472 & saw a lot of action in World War One.

replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @postcardsplaces A1 Such a hard question. I can't decide. Castles or palaces? I love both. This one is a castle (or what is left of it) on the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland. #TRLT

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @postcardsplaces A1: Castles! I live in the land of castles (France), so am spoilt! #TRLT

replying to @t_jh2009 @t_jh2009 @TheTravelCamel @LindaPeters64 @JLipowski @RTWBarefoot Hello #TRLT. I'm tweeting from the #Chilterns, and these are the ruins of our nearest castle, Berkhamsted (a total castle in medieval times.)

replying to @t_jh2009 A1) I guess that the little boy in me prefers forts over the others since my friends and I use to build forts during the winter and have snowball fights. #TRLT

A1: I couldn't decide between all of these - I love castles, palaces, and forts for different reasons. #TRLT

So Castles, Palaces and Forts is the Travel Chat topic tonight.
This should be easy. #loveireland 😂 #trlt
@TheTravelCamel #Ireland

A1 Castles, though some have become de facto palaces over time as priorities shifted from defence to domestic comfort. @RabyCastle in Co Durham is a good example - Gothic arches in the entrance hall to allow entry to carriages in more recent times #TRLT @postcardsplaces

replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @postcardsplaces A1: Have been to few of any of these. I loved Pena Palace in Sintra, Portugal decades ago. Would likely choose castles or palaces -- although my June visit to Fort Ross in California was stunning. Russian! #TRLT

A1: no set preferences for me, as castles, palaces, and forts all have unique historical and cultural value.

Hi from Queretaro, Mexico! Just updated my computer so pictures are everywhere! #trlt

replying to @t_jh2009 @t_jh2009 @postcardsplaces A1. All of the above. 😊. This is inside the wonderful Stirling Castle in Scotland. #trlt

A1 #TRLT: I prefer castles! Often with the grandeur of palaces and the strength of forts, they're a beautiful architectural combination—like Château Royal d’Amboise https://t.co/zsfd8bBOIc

replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @postcardsplaces A1. #TRLT I'm a medievalist, so I have a soft spot for castles. This is Portchester Castle, which we visited earlier this year.
